Winter Woods

Winter Trees

Hi All!

I’m in a Fall kind of mood. I just got this Winter Woods set from the Stampin’ Up! Holiday catalog. I LOVE this set. I didn’t really even appreciate the stamp I used for this card until I actually used it. It’s seriously the finest set of tree branches I’ve ever seen – it’s like hair. In the video I keep referring to the branches as leaves, lol. In fact, I kept calling the set Winter Leaves, then Winter Trees, but then I got it right in the video: Winter Woods. I don’t know why it’s so confusing to me.

The photo of the card does not do it justice. You get a better view of it in the video. Here is a close-up of the branches:

Be careful with the water – too much water and you lose the detail. You can always add more, so go slowly.

Enjoy the video!

Wow, Darlene! This is my kind of card. Really am going to have to get this stamp set. I’ve had it on my wish list for quite some time. But this card was the clincher for me. Thanks for sharing and have a relaxing weekend.

I’ve been thinking of buying this set, I love the line of trees you used and those birch tree trunks are also amazing and they look so real.
I think inking this particular stamp directly with the markers is a fantastic idea, love the beautiful colors you used.
    Thank you for sharing, Darlene.

Awesome colors! Love how you kept the fine details of the stamp, even with the misting. My mom & I were up in your neck of the woods yesterday to go to the State Fair & do just a bit of shopping. We were both soaked–with sweat, not water–by the time we left Dallas to come home! When we were walking around at Fair Park at first, I told Mama that it wasn’t quite so bad in the shade. But that unfortunately a lot of the park is NOT in the shade! I also may have done a bit of damage to my back, walking/standing on concrete for so long without sitting more often. One of those things I know I shouldn’t do, but never think of it in the heat of the moment. I did my back exercises at the first twinge, though, so hopefully that nipped it in the bud. But we had fun anyway! Hopefully fall will REALLY get here before winter. 😛 In the meantime, I guess we’ll have to make do with autumnal cards. LOL Thanks so much for sharing, Darlene, & have a wonderful weekend! 😺 ~ Andrea

Hi Darlene, what a great sympathy card, like you say! Finally SU came out with a set that will give Lovely as a Tree stamp set a run for its money! Nice addition to use both of them together too! It’s Thanksgiving weekend here in Canada and I am on vacation next week so I will have plenty of time to craft! 😎

This is lovely, Darlene. So YOU! Thanks for sharing. Trees are beginning to look like this here in Illinois.
