Hi All,
I’m back for some more watercoloring, this time with my Peerless watercolors (my set contains both the base pack and the bonus pack). You can find my review of these watercolors HERE. It has been awhile since I’ve used them. I had forgotten how many choices of color there are! They are so different from the Gansai Tambi I used on Friday – the Peerless colors are much more transparent.
The wine glass is from the Mixed Drinks set by Stampin’ Up!, which I also used on this card and this card.
I used my Ranger watercolor cardstock again today. I probably should have stuck with my go-to Canson XL. The Ranger cardstock is very thick compared to the much thinner Canson XL. The Canson XL is thinner than my Neenah card base, so when I adhere the Canson to the Neenah, the Canson pretty much takes the form of the straight card base. The Ranger cardstock is thicker than the Neenah, so the card base takes the form of the watercolor panel, which is warped. I hope that makes sense.
Anyway, I had fun creating this card – I kind of felt a little bit like an artist because I painted the wine on the inside. 🙂
Enjoy the video!

I’m so glad you used your Peerless watercolors today. I have the same sets and love them but I somehow forget to use them. I especially like the translucent effect you get. I don’t think there was much warping and it looked great to me! Some of Stampin Up’s sentiments are so spot on – this one definitely was!

Love the fine detail on the wine glasses! I’m enjoying your watercolors that you are bringing back.

Darlene,
I just read where a crafter puts their watercolor between a metal shim and the magnetic base plate of the Big Shot to dry. The magnets create a tight seal, more than a block, to straighten out the paper. Of course, this might take a longer while to dry.
Something to think about.

Love that sentiment, even though I’m a die hard teetotaler! (Mostly just because I can’t stand the taste of alcoholic beverages.) Great job on the watercoloring, too! One tip I’ve heard for flattening out warped watercolor paper is to place it in a sheet of copy paper (to protect it from the scratches on the cutting plates), then run it through your die cutting machine between the plates without any dies. I’ve never tried it, so can’t speak on it personally, but it makes sense. I would say to let the paper dry thoroughly before doing that, though, or it will just warp again as it finishes drying. And no, ironing doesn’t work. Even if you have the steam turned off, you’re still applying heat, which will also warp the paper. At any rate, you might give the die cutting machine solution a try. Thanks so much for sharing your card, Darlene. And btw–you ARE an artist! 🙂 ~ Andrea

I’m going to try that next time, Andrea! Thank you for your kind words. 🙂
