Hi All,
Gosh, it has been awhile since I have used the Owl Punch. It was time to break it out, but I decided to do something a little different – penguins instead of owls. Our weather in Dallas has finally cooled to the 90’s, so I was in a little penguin mood. 🙂
And yes, it’s a flip-it card, but I also added a fold-in panel on the right side. I used the Stampin’ Up! Label Thinlits Card die. It comes with a bunch of pieces, including the “i {heart} u”, arrows, and labels I used on this card. Here are a couple of other photos so you can see how it folds:
I used UTEE for the “i {heart} u” and Cherry Cobbler Stickles for the hearts. Here are a couple of close-ups:
I am working on some new cards using the Stampin’ Up! holiday catalog products. So excited about these! Enjoy the video and have a great week!

I love your penguin card. I have used my owl punch to make grandchildren cards. Last fall I made 25 witches with the owl punch. They rode brooms on treat bags i made for my grandson’s class. You are an inspiration, Darlene. I have seen penguins on Pinterest, but your penguins make me want to make some, and I am sure that I will. Thanks for sharing.

Your card is wonderful. I actually bought that owl punch after watching one of your videos. I am amazed at all the things that can be made using that punch. I love watching your videos, you explain every procedure so completely, making them easy to follow. I think I will use your video to make a Christmas card with the penguins. I used your previous owl videos to make a birthday and a Christmas card for my granddaughter who loves owls. Thank you for all you do for us.

Love the card. I debated buying the thinlit but didn’t think I would use it often because it was limited to one shape. I do have a question about the Tiny Stars stamp, does the fine pwder make a difference? I think I have regular clear pwdr and my background seems to be a blur after heating.
Darlene DeVries
I haven’t noticed a huge difference between the ultra fine and the regular, but I was using Stampin’ Up! before, which is a really good quality brand.

Oh Darlene, this punch is one of the best punches from SU, it’s one that you can use over and over again, to make the cutes little critters ever!! You also are the reason I bought this punch and I’ve used it a lot, it’s always fabulous. You really create the most amazing cards using this punch and for that, I’m so grateful.

Hi Darlene. After a 10 yr hiatus with stamping, I find myself overwhelmed. As, I want to buy EVERYTHING! Any tips on what type of purchases to make first or prioritize? what color papers to start with and build upon, buying stamps (how many happy bdays/thank yous do we really need?), markers, embossing colors etc.
Happy Stamping,
Michelle
Darlene DeVries
Hi Michelle, welcome back to cardmaking! I don’t think that “I want to buy everything” feeling has stopped for me yet, lol! I wrote a post on getting started. You can check it out HERE. Hope this helps. Good luck!

hello darlene, such a beauti card, I love it, one thing to ask you,
The tiny stars look gold colored is that so and wich ink did you you use with what color?
thank you very
magda van Spankeren
Darlene DeVries
Magda, the stars are just clear embossing powder on versamark ink. The paper is Sahara Sand, so it’s just a tone-on-tone look.
Magda van Spankeren
thanks a lot Darlene
