Hi All!
I try to squeeze card-making into my busy life, so I usually get 2-hour blocks here and there to create new cards. By the time it’s 9:30pm and the kids are in bed, I’m too mentally tired to create, so that’s when I typically do blog-work and video editing.
Last week, I was spending a lot of time with flowers, watercolor, heat embossing, mixed media, etc. Nothing was doing it for me. I didn’t like anything I created. I was really discouraged.
After a couple of sessions with nothing to show for it, I gave up. I decided to abandon everything and go in a completely different direction. It’s incredibly hard to change direction after you’ve invested a bunch of time – you don’t want that time to be in vain. Have you been there?
Anyway, I grabbed my Paper Smooches Chubby Chums set and decided to have two cows climbing up to a window carrying a heart. Why not? The card came together really quickly and I’m happy that I cut my losses. I guess you just have to do that sometimes.
Enjoy and have a great week!

I always enjoy your whimsical cards. Thanks for sharing.

The chunky cows are adorable. I appreciate the directions and descriptions that you give during your videos. It is so helpful to me when you tell why you are using certain copic combinations for example. You are an inspiration.
Yes, I have had the same experiences where nothing comes together. I get frustrated and very discouraged. I usually put it aside and come back to it later with fresh ideas.

I love this! I always love your videos especially when I own the things you are using! I will be CASEing this one! Thanks.

I do this all the time! Sometimes things that look so good in my head just DO NOT translate to paper! And I really dislike what I’ve created. Sometimes they are things I’d be embarrassed to share! LOL!!! I’m sorry you experience it, too…but in a way it kind of makes me feel a little better. LOL!
And another thing…sometimes I don’t like things I’ve done but when I come back and look with it with a fresh eye another day I think…”Well, that doesn’t look so bad after all!”! 😉
Anyhow…this card is adorable and I love the two cows climbing up to peek in the window. So cute!

Hello Darlene: I also have days where I just can’t put anything together and, when I finally think I got it, as soon as I see the more or less finish card, it doesn’t look good at all so I start over, it’s a bit frustrating. Sometimes it’s better to leave it alone and come back the next day with a clearer mind.
Now, about this super cute card…..I love it, I have a stamp set with this little monsters that I think would go great with this design. When your acrylic block jumped out of your hand, I couldn’t help but laugh, that is one of the many things I love about your videos, you do not edit them, you keep them so real and always fun to watch.
Thank you for another great video.

So adorable – love the glossy accent eyes. After all the frustration, you turned out an incredible card that inspires others and creating something is a gift. Thanks for sharing it. 🙂

Love your card! Just received the Chubby Chums set and was so excited to see how you creatively used the stamp set. I am fairly new at this craft so it is comforting to understand that my feelings are normal. My creativity seems to come and go (mostly go-ha). Thank you for sharing your feelings and your sweet card!

How cute is this. Adorable, happy card. What fun. I, too, am unhappy with what I’ve done with watercoloring. Not much I’ve done this week that I like.

The cows are so darn cute, Darlene! Love the way they are climbing in the window to bring a little love and encouragement your way. And so funny to see that acrylic block go flying out of your hand in slow motion!! That kind of stuff happens to me all the time! (But it usually lands on my project!)

Pretty dang-gone cute.
