Hi Everyone!!
Can you believe I created this card with Stampin’ Up! inks and not distress inks? The entire card is made from Stampin’ Up! Whisper White cardstock.
When I made the discovery that you can blend Stampin’ Up! inks just like distress inks, I couldn’t wait to share the details with you. Check out the tutorial HERE.
Enjoy the card and have a great week!

That was AWESOME! I’ve been collecting the distress inks, but was reluctant to show my stamp club ladies. Now I can, using SU! inks! Wonder why I didn’t think of that?! The videos were great…thanks so much!

OMG!!!! So awesome! I am to a SU demonstrator, but love the distress inks! I always think of cool ideas, but then cant use them at workshops, but now I totally can!!! I can not wait to go home and try it! And I too get the staying awake at night thinking about projects to make:) Love your cards!

I love your videos! Speading it us was genius, too… makes it more fun to watch! I learn lots, too, even though I’ve been making cards for about 10 years now. There are so many techniques, and ideas to try. I’m always inspired. Keep up the good work!

Such a GORGEOUS card! I loved both of your videos today. So glad you shared your fun ideas with us.
Ya know, before I even purchased any of my Distress Inks, I would always use the Stampin’ Up inks with my foam applicators too! I still do. I have way more colors of the SU inks, so sometimes I just prefer them, since I don’t have as many colors of the Distress Inks.
Oh, and I also like using sponge daubers (both big and small) to apply the inks too. They also help to reduc the chances of getting that harsh rectangle line. At least for me, they do. LoL… I loved the color combos you used. Wonderful inspiration, as always!

Great videos … I’ll certainly give your technique a try! I’ve been a SU customer for about 15 years and am totally addicted to cardmaking. I know my demo thinks I’ve got a few loose wires in my head. ha! You’re not the only one who stays awake at night with stamping ideas floating through her mind. I get most excited when I’m waiting for an order to arrive with new goodies. I have some goodies scheduled to arrive in two days. Can’t wait!

G’day Darlene – I’ve been wondering if SU inks could be used like the distressed ones and while watching your videos I’m sitting here nodding saying to myself ‘of course!!’ Thanks for the very informative vid’s – always a pleasure to watch. Have a great day. ps – got my hands on a coluzzle….so excited!

Hi Darlene,
I love that you can do this with SU colors too! Have you tried it with the craft ink? I wonder if it might be easier to blend? Anyway – love your cards and videos. Thanks for sharing!

Lisa – I haven’t tried it with craft. That could be interesting, since it doesn’t dry fast. I only have one non-neutral color though. If I buy more I will have to try it out!

Great tutorial and I enjoyed watching the video’s. I’ve got 48+ SU ink colors. I’m going to give this a try.
Your card turned out lovely.
Eveline.

Great videos and love your card!

So cool! I’m also a demonstrator and found myself in exactly the same position as you – love, love, love the effect of Distress Inks but never tried the same technique with my SU range ’cause I assumed the H2O reaction was specific only to DI. Never tried it for myself though – *facepalm*. So after purchasing the entire range of DI colours (still love them though), I find I can now achieve a comparable effect with my complete (+ retired) range of SU!!
Thank you, thank you, thank you for taking the time to experiment and share with us this exciting discovery.
p.s. if you have a bunch of spare wood blocks from un-mounting your old stamps, staple some Velcro tape (hook side) to your now empty block and you have a home-made applicator…

Hi Darlene. I’ve loved the look of distress inks but haven’t wanted to purchase them because I have SU. Been wondering if I could get a similar look but never took the time to play. Glad you did! Love it when someone uses a product I know and love (SU) and finds a way to adapt them to a technique I really love the look of (distress ink/water). Thanks for sharing!

Hi Darlene,
Love all your cards and your videos. Can you please tell me which stamp you used under the main flower. I thought this was a cool trick, not using the whole stamp and using the sticky note.
Thanks,
Jean Fitch
Thanks for sharing the tutorial and the fun card Darlene. Cool masking trick you used with the Slice of Life image to get that split image on either side of the center band. Helpful watercoloring tips too.
