Wednesday’s Card: Stampin’ Up! Marker Resist

Marker Resist

Marker Resist

Hi All!

I saw a Christmas card in Paper Crafts magazine a few months ago that used twine to outline a panel and I loved how it completed the edge. I actually inked this card with markers – and it was so fast because I used the brush tip. So, it is super fast in the video!

I also used my Beautiful Wings Embosslit, which I haven’t used in awhile. I love all those little embossed butterflies – so elegant.

This card in real time took me about 17 minutes or so, which includes all my “where did I put that?” delays. I swear I can spend 3 minutes looking for something that is literally right in front of me on the desk!! I edit all those things out, lol! Of course, 17 minutes is the second version – the first version took longer because I experimented with white or black embossed flowers in the background, what colors to use, size of the panel, etc. I seriously contemplate every detail.

If you are a fan of my Facebook page, then you know that my Michael’s Craft Master episode went up last night!! You can check it out here.

Anyway, enjoy the card video and have a great week!

Thank you for sharing your lovely technique with this card. I love the colours you have chosen. I have decided to use the technique in our group swap using French Foliage. Love it. Also congratulations on your win in the Michael’s craft contest. How nerve wracking that would have been for you. I wonder if they will have a second heat where they get the winners to compete against each other. Well done and thanks so much for sharing your lovely ideas. I love the way you do your videos.

    Darlene,
I’m so PROUD of you!!! I figured I was totally biased because I thought you had it in the bag right from the start, but apparantly the judges agreed with me. GOOD FOR YOU!!! Firstly, another great card and again I’ve learned some great techniques so thanks for sharing them. I was thinking of doing an underwater scene card today using the coloring (horizontally of course!) and the water ‘flicking’ techniques – can’t wait.
Secondly, congratulations on your award – I’m in Australia so I have no idea what it’s all about, but I’m going to go and ‘google’ to find out – can’t wait to see what you created to win – but I’m not surprised you won – you are very talented! Thanks again.

Congratulations Ms. Craft Master. I’ve watched some of the Michaels’ episodes in the past and was so excited to see you! Of course, I watch all your Wednesday videos and just love them and learn new techniques every week. One quick question… what is the glue pen/stick thing you use? I love the idea of putting the twine around the card… it really frames it. Congrats again on your win! Way to go Craft Master Queen.

I love it and can see lots of twine borders on my cards in the very near future. Thanks so much for sharing =)

EXCELLENT! EXCELLENT! EXCELLENT! I tried this and LOVED it…I used the Koh-I-Noor Woodless Colour Pencils, which have a really soft lead in them (You’ll be sorry if you drop them, as they break very easy!), and this technique worked awesome! It gives the image a really soft hue. I can’t say enough about it – I LOVED IT! TY so much for sharing!!! 🙂
