I’m already starting to send Christmas thank-you cards! I received one the other day for hosting a party and it was so nice! I’m big on thank-you’s, so I figured I should get started. I wanted to create one that was festive but not totally Christmas-y.
The technique I used on the card was really cool! I embossed with silver powder, then I stamped with white craft ink. When you turn the card into the light, the silver embossing is really shiny and the white lettering fades into the background. Then, when you turn it out of the direct light, the silver fades into the background and the white stands out!! I tried to show you in the video, but it’s kind of something you need to see for yourself in person.
One thing I did realize afterwards is that the craft ink literally never dries on the embossed sections of the card. So, I would add a step to clean off the leaves with a dry rag or tissue.
I really wanted to add more to the card – a ribbon or button or something! But, I had to refrain because I think it’s just better to let the background be the focal point. The card was so easy to make! I didn’t slow it down very much or it would be over before you know it. 🙂
Have a great week!

Thanks for the video! Loved the silver and white and yes each layer did disappear as you moved it back and forth. Lovely!

I really like this card – but then I seem to like everything you do!
I was wondering – it looks like you have a clear vinyl sheet over your table. It’s obviously great for clean up but have you ever melted it with your heat gun?

Hi Lisa! The craft sheet is made by Tim Holtz. It is completely indestructible – I love it!! Here’s a link: http://www.simonsaysstamp.com/servlet/the-15486/ranger-inkssentials-craft-sheet/Detail
