Wednesday’s Card: Seize the Cupcake

Seize the Cupcake

When I started thinking about making this next card, I had no ideas at all. And everything I came up with sounded awful. I created one that was not worthy of posting. I figured all my good ideas had run out and that was it.

When I get this kind of creative block, it totally disrupts my sleep. I normally wake up a lot at night. But, when I’m trying to create a card, I will wake up and start thinking about it. Then I can’t go back to sleep. It is unrelenting and totally annoying. On Sunday night, as I laid in bed trying to fall asleep, I got this idea with the cupcake and the Versamark around it. Of course, I thought about it a lot that night, but then I woke up and created it – I really like the way it came out. I’m sure this is probably more information than you care to know about my creation process!

Also in the news – Stampin’ Up! announced a “color renovation”. They are incorporating 5 new colors, bringing back 10 of the previous “in-colors” (colors that change on a yearly basis), and retiring 30 colors. 25 colors will remain the same but will be reorganized into different groups. Although I LOVE the new colors, I am a little sad and I guess a little annoyed that now I have to spend more money to get all these new colors. I understand that change is unavoidable, and I actually like change. But change as in change in my wallet is not something I get excited about. Oh well, I’m sure I will come to love and appreciate it!! That being said, I think Stampin’ Up! actually needed this color renovation. The new colors will be available starting in the next Idea Book and Catalog that releases in July. I don’t think they have posted anything about it on the customer site, so if you are interested in more detail, email me and I’ll send you what I have.

Ok, enough about that… there is one thing I want to mention about this card. I used Stampin’ Up! watercolor paper for the cupcake. If you are using an aqua painter or a blender pen (anything with moisture) to color a stamped image, you really need to use the watercolor paper. It doesn’t wear down or get wavy from the moisture.

Anyway, here is the video. Have a great week!!

This is so cute. I just wish you would talk and tell us what you are doing. The music is kind of annoying! But, I love your cards so I just have to mute the sound so I can concentrate on what you are doing. Keep those creative juices running. I love it.

I lucked up on your site. And am so wowed!!!! Your ideas are so creative and your use of color just pops. I am truly inspired!

I have looked and looked locally and online for the “•Sakura Clear Star Gold Gel Pen” that you use. Could you point me in the direction of where if available online. The only thing I can find are Sukura Stardust, but no Gold.

Thanks and please, please, please keep them coming.

Hi Linda! Thanks for the nice comments. I wasn’t very exact with my wording of the product on that pen – so sorry! I updated my blog to reflect the actual name. It is the Sakura Stardust Clear Gelly Roll Pen. It came from JoAnn’s – here is the exact product.
