UPDATE: I forgot to tell you about the cute stamp I used on the back of the card. It is from a site called Cat’s Life Press.
Last week, I was in line at my grocery store and they had these cute cards where something gets pulled out of a pocket as you open the card. They were pretty elaborate… for example, you open the card and Santa comes out of a chimney. Another one was shaped like a purse – you open it and a gift card slides out. I thought they were so cool! I wanted to go home and try it out, and of course, this is a job for the owl punch. Seriously, I need a new punch that is as cute as this one because I’m sure these owls are getting a little old. Any suggestions?
A friend of mine just got a new job – he’s a big-wig now, so it called for a major card.
Now, this card is way less sophisticated than the ones at the store, but it’s still the same effect. And I’m not going to lie to you. It did not take me anywhere close to 8 minutes to make this card!! But, a lot of the time was just spent figuring out how to make it work. I added a lot of detail, like the wings on the owls and the squirrel on the front – which also added to the total time. But oh well, it was so fun to make!
Don’t you love getting a card with your name on it? Well, actually, I’m not sure I’ve ever gotten one with my name on it, but how cool would that be, lol??
Okay, well two more things… I know that I tend to ask for a lot of crafting stuff for Christmas! In fact, that’s about 99% of what I ask for!! And, of course, Copics are top of my list because they are the expensive and I hate buying them for myself. I discovered that Dick Blick has a wishlist functionality – you just put all the colors you want in a wishlist and voila – ready for sending off to the person who is going to make you very happy this year.
