Wednesday’s Card: Ornamental Noel

Hi All!

Is it too early for Christmas? When I shop at JoAnn’s for Halloween and see all the Christmas stuff, it kind of stresses me out. But then again, holiday crafting really needs to start early if you’re going to get everything done, right? Plus I love creating holiday cards – it’s so festive and it reminds me that our connections with friends and family over the holidays really need to be a focus.

On that note, I want to share a site with you that I discovered recently. It’s about enjoying the joys of everyday life when things get crazy. It’s called The Hands Free Revolution. In a nutshell… get your hands off your electronics and look around. If you’re on Facebook, “like” her page and some really great daily thoughts will show up in your newsfeed. Sometimes they literally make me cry, but not in a sad way. Personally, I really benefit from these reminders to look beyond the to-do lists. I hope you find something positive in it, too.

Anyhoo… on today’s card I broke out my liquid applique for some snow. I absolutely love this stuff. I’ve used it on so many cards I can’t even count!

Another new product I’m using today is the Ranger Super Fine Gold Embossing Powder. I’ve been using a powder that looks a little tarnished, so I was searching around for something really shiny. I really like the results of this powder!

Enjoy the video and have a great week!

A very beautiful card and your shaping of the image and trimming with gold to make an over-all Christmas ball image was genius! Love it and appreciate you sharing your techniques on the video.

Darlene, I love this card, the stamp is fantastic and it’s perfect for water coloring or Copics. The colors you used and all the shading you did makes this ornament really pop. I finally ordered the white liquid applique, I was browsing your gallery the other day and I came across that super cute Santa Owl and I suddenly remember I had to order some of that puffy stuff that looks so much like snow. I love the way the gold EP looks, it’s not like glitter but it melts so much smoother, looks like gold paper. Thank you for another fantastic video tutorial.

Absolutely an awesome card. Love the way you made the shape look like a Christmas ball for the tree, such a great idea. That Ranger Gold Embossing Powder looks great…. Never to early to work on those Christmas cards.

It’s never too early to view your delightful Christmas treasures . . . but I do admit I had to moan when Shopko, a local box store, featured a sale on Christmas trees, lights and ornaments on the front page of their sales flier – – the day BEFORE Halloween. Tis’ the season, I guess!

Beautiful card! So many elements going on that go perfectly together. I wish I had your understanding of shadows and light. You always do such an amazing job with coloring and making it look 3 dimensional and realistic.
