Hi All!
Do you like the polka dots? I wish I had time to do more – I’m kind of getting bored with the current design. The dots were an easy change, so I figured, why not?
For the card this week, I wanted to try out using two different embossing powders on an image. I used both Wild Wasabi and White embossing powders on the butterflies. Kind of a neat look.
I totally love the En Francais background stamp – it’s so pretty! I know I’ve been using it a lot lately – hopefully you’re not getting sick of it!
Update on the Christmas card project (does everyone obsess about the Christmas card like I do? I need to get some sleep for goodness sake!). I have the perfect photo. We only had to do about 7 photo shoots at various times of the day in a variety of locations to get it. I was getting the “seriously mom?” look from my 10 year old. And I am almost done with my prototype. Yes, you heard it… the prototype. I just use plain white printer paper, a pencil, and some scotch tape to make the prototype. Why? Because I don’t have any of the supplies to make it! I’m using a new punch and a new stamp set. But, I want to make sure I’m happy before I go purchasing everything. I will post it sometime in the next few weeks.
A couple of milestones are right around the corner…. I am 19 subscribers away from hitting 1,000 subscribers on my YouTube channel!! I cannot believe it. I remember when I got the first subscription. I was jumping and screaming from excitement. I feel so lucky. AND…. I’ll be posting my 100th card-making video next Wednesday! Wow, 100 videos. That’s kind of a lot!
I know I’ve said it before, but here goes again… thanks for watching and leaving such nice comments. I appreciate it so much. 🙂
And now for the video…

My Grand-daughter and I watch your videos and one or both always find something interesting. I really like todays card. We do not have and embossing tool but after this video we might have to get one. Too cool using two powders.

Stunning card Darlene!
I did not know you could use two embossing powders at the same time.
The spellbinder tip is great too.

Great tip for using 2 embossing colors – I’ll have to give it a try and hope it turns out as lovely as your card. Congrats on the video milestone and subscriber list – I hope it continues to grow!!! (can’t imagine a Wed without you…)
Judy
Lovely card! I love the effect of the green and white embossing powder.
Wendy Carr
Wow! I love this card! It is very doable for me. I don’t have copic markers and can’t reproduce a lot of what you normally do. I love to listen to you talk about how and why you do the steps. I might just attempt to case this one though 😉
Mary
Delightful!
Kathryne
I adore this card and I am going to try the two powder technique — I did try it on Surfboards but I like how yours looks more blended – Mine showed a definite line.
Thanks for sharing your tricks and tips!
Julie
Wow! Have I mentioned I LOVE everything you make? I just cased your butterfly on distressed rainbow background for a card at a craft retreat this past weekend. I have a feeling this one is my next steal……

Darlene,
I simply LOVE your blog. Your taste is very similar to mine, and I have many of the stamp sets that you use! I love that you show the card, then show the video to make the card. After scouring the web, I have found only 3 other cardmaking blogs that do that. (none as elegant as yours). Curious, do you make the card on your own first, then repeat it in front of the camera? Where do you get your inspiration? Please keep them coming, I just subscribed! LOVE,LOVE,LOVE it! Cindy
