Wednesday’s Card: Lunch Notes!

Lunch Notes

Hi All,

I pack my 9 year old’s lunch pretty much every day. And every day, I include a note. She comes home with the note every day and stores it in a box by her bed. I keep doing it because she feels special when I do. At first, I purchased this set of journaling cards. I went through most of them and then decided to make my own. The first ones I made were definitely more time consuming, using the Lil Hoot stamp set, Avery Elle Cupcakes, and Copic Markers. I decided to handwrite sentiments instead of stamp them so that it would be more personal. I die cut them using the Simon Says Stamp Postage Edge Frames.

After those, I decided I needed some quick ones that can be duplicated pretty easily, as I use one note daily. So, I broke out my Neon inks, the Stampin’ Up! Gorgeous Grunge set, and Hero Arts Glow Girl. I got this totally cool sentiments set called Slang Gang by Paper Smooches:

Slang Gang

Perfect for tweens and teens. Anyway, I just trimmed some rectangles and die cut some circles to make the second and third sets. I left the back blank so I could write a message.

By the way, Simon Says Stamp just added a bunch of items to their Clearance section. I found this deal on distress inks. If I didn’t already have all three colors, I would buy it! There are also a bunch of Hero Arts stamps for $3 and $4… full sets and backgrounds!

Sorry no video today. I figured these were pretty straight forward. See the list of supplies for each below. Have a great week and I’ll be back with a video next Wednesday for sure. 🙂

Thank you for the heads up for clearance items at SSS. I went immediately to their site and purchased $100 worth of merchandise for $26. Thank you! Thank you! Having been a teacher for 30 years, I know the joy on children’s faces when they have a note from their mother in their lunch box. For the child, it is almost as good as their mother being there at that moment. Priceless expressions of love!!!

My son just begins to read, but you gave me a great example how to fill not just his tummy but his heart as well … have a nice week, greetings from Berlin, Germany, Claude

That is just the sweetest thing to do for your kids, what a great idea. In this day and age of text messaging and emails and stuff like that, a hand written note for your little ones really means a lot to them. I too put a note once in a while for my hubby,(believe it or not, I pack his lunch every day, been doing it for almost 41 years!!!!!), specially on Valentine’s Day and his birthday, I make a cute card with a sweet message and put it between the sandwich and his slice of cake, he loves it. This little notes are super fabulous Darlene and I happen to have that die, Yippie!!!
I’m going to make a good bunch of this notes and give them to my daughters so they can stick it inside my grandkids lunch bags, what a sweet surprise that will be.
Thank you for this great idea Darlene!!

These are great. I’ve stamped much smaller lunch notes for my 3 boys but you’ve taken it to a new level. I did go ahead and grab that deal on distress inks since I don’t have any but have been wanting to try them. Thanks for the link.
