Wednesday’s Card: Lollipops in Packaging

Lollipops

Lollipops

Hi All!

We are enjoying 106-107 temperatures in Dallas this week, every. single. day. I would love to have some of those clouds from my card last week!! My poor 10-year-old daughter played in a soccer tournament last weekend AND is playing this weekend. Three games in this heat. She drinks tons of water and pours a lot of it over her head too! Anyhoo…

Another new stamp set from the Stampin’ Up! catalog this week… it’s called Sweets for the Sweet. There are so many cute things you can do with it. For this card, I made the lollipops look like they are in packaging by applying Crystal Effects to the wrappers. What do you think? I wanted to add a little more texture and interest without more “stuff”, so this seemed like a good idea. I first tried using glitter Stickles, but it wasn’t nearly as real-looking. Crystal Effects takes quite a long time to dry because it’s pretty thick. One touch when it’s in the middle of drying will ruin your look. Note to self: do not leave card to dry in the middle of your workspace. :0

Enjoy and have a great week!

Cute card, Darlene. I love the effect. Your note to self is the same as the one to myself. You’ll need to write it multiple times if you’re like me ;- ) Our heat hasn’t been as bad as yours and I’m hating it. We just had a cold (cool) front go through. I really feel for your daughter. Have a great day and try to stay cool >.<

This card is adorable. So many tips and techniques you shared. Thank you. I’m going to try this immediately and “I’ll be back”. Do you allow people to order via Internet and, if so, what methods of payment do you allow?

So you are in Texas!! I was born in Texas, but unfortunately moved away as a child, but I’ve been a Texan at heart my whole life! LOL!! Your card is cute. I always like touches like using a clear glaze for special effects. I think I own every brand of clear glaze except the Stampin’ Up kind that you mentioned! LOL!!

Darlene, I’ve never posted but I just wanted to comment on how much I love your blog! It is such an inspiration, I just love how you put different products together and just wanted to say (in the nicest way possible) you are an enabler! I can’t begin to tell you how much I’ve ordered from SU! after seeing a card sample.

    Keep up the fantastic work!

Another cute one! I really like your special effects! Careful about wishing for those clouds though! Here in So Cal our usually dry 100+ temp is still close to that, but with the clouds that bring in the humidity! YUCK! We actually had real rain the other day! I know 107 is a lot but, be careful what you wish for! 🙂 Hope your daughter survives her game!

It’s always a joy to watch your video’s and this one is great too. I like the card.
We had a good day yesterday and a not so good day today, rain and clouds, and now it’s 8.15pm and the sun comes out!

Darlene, another winner! Thanks for the tip on making the row of dots. I never would have thought of that. Love the mod edges on this card too!

Darlene, Just wanted to chime in as well about how much I look forward to Wednesday’s and watching & listening to your videos. It all looks so simple and effortless when you do it – but I’m sure you spend lots of time thinking and planning these cards out in advance. You are an inspiration!! Thanks so much!

Hi Darlene. I love this card! You are really an awesome “voice” for Stampin’ Up, by that I don’t mean your actual voice, although it’s perfect on your video, but you really believe in the product and I find that an awesome quality. Whether intentional or not, you have shared so many incredible tips in your video today, which is what keeps me coming back to watch them all! I have purchased my first Stampin’ Up stamps just last week and I am totally impressed with the high quality and the detail in each image and the way those details are captured on paper. I have stayed away from their “clear stamps”, just because some of my clings from other companies are not really clinging anymore, so I am cautious, however, price wise I may have to start looking at them again versus the wood stamps. Anyway, I am blabbing, just wanted to give you those compliments because you take the time and effort to share your beautiful work with people like me. Thank you.

I think the clean and simple nature of this card is what makes it so cute! That is what first attracted me to your cards when I saw them on Split Coast Stampers. Big frills don’t give me big thrills.

Hi I love all your cards. I have been watching a lot of your videos today and learning a lot from them. But what is the name of the punch that you used on this card? TFS!!

Beth – it’s made by EK Success. I’m not sure what the name is – I got it at my local craft store.
