Hi All!
School starts here in Dallas next week, so we are enjoying our last week at home together! It has been a great summer.
I did a lot of water-spotting on this card. I really love the look you get when you use the Stampin’ Up! cardstock – it’s different from other cardstocks. The water spots remove a lot more color for some reason. And Pumpkin Pie is just a great color to use for all-over. It’s just so vibrant!
I used Copic markers for the coloring. Because the flowers are so small, I just used two shades of each color. You can read my recent post about Copic Markers HERE.
I had someone comment a couple of weeks ago (shout-out to Cathy!) about how I probably spend a lot of time in advance on these cards. I never really thought about it before, but I thought it was worth mentioning… You probably think the design process and color combinations come really easy to me, but I tell you… it doesn’t most of the time!! I usually spend about 90 minutes thinking about and creating the first version of the card. And you know what? At least 1/2 of the cards I feel aren’t good enough for video!! If I make one that I am happy with, I create another and videotape it, and I usually make a few small changes to the second videotaped version to make it look a little better. One time I probably tried 10 different color combos on a card before I found the right one!
Anyway, if you find yourself putting a ton of thought into a card (or almost every card!), don’t fret!! You are not alone. 🙂
Have a great week!!

Hi Darlene
I can’ view your video today – it indicates “This video is private”. I usually don’t have any trouble but I am in Canada so sometimes there are issues on other sites. Anyways, it’s a good chance to tellyou how happy I have been to have “discovered” your site. You are not only super talented but I love your on-camera style too. Cheers, Catherine
Renée
Hi Darlene,
I am having the same issue as Catherine!
Just an FYI.

Love that color combo, can’t wait to give it a try. Your talent is amazing. Thanks for giving us the Copic colors you used in this project.

Hi Darlene,
I always love your designs they are so wonderfully made. I feel fortunate to have discovered your site through another link. I wait for Wed. to roll around.
what a great idea for the stamp a ma jig. I don’t use vellum (a wee bit expensive) but have found that other plastic works well too.
Keep stampin.. and keep those wonderful videos coming..
hugs and prayers,
Claudia
hope this goes through as I’m in Canada

Woo Hoo – video worked. Loved the card and technique with those water spots. I really need to get me some of those foam applicators!!

I love the pumpkin pie! Indeed, such a vibrant color. Makes me happy.
Wonderful card. I like that “en francais” stamp.

Hi Darlene,
Wonderful card. And I bet that all your initial designs are just as wonderful. I wish I could see them all. I so look forward to Wednesdays. Hope your daughter enjoys school. I bet she is one of the teacher’s favorite students.
Take care.

Another gorgeous card Darlene. It is good to know that I am not the only one who takes ages over a card. I sometimes agonize for hours over the choice of colours to use, or which embellishment I am going to add. Thanks for sharing your video with us, I am always hanging out for Wednesdays to see what you have in store for us.

Whoot whoot Darlene – thanks for the personal email reply and the shout-out! Watching your Wednesday videos is a special treat for me – I make sure I have a fresh cup of coffee and time to sit and drink it all in (both the video and the coffee). Enjoy the last free days before school begins! My DD is starting her first student teaching experience in San Antonio – and is thrilled to be there! I think we have lost her to Texas.
Catherine
Yeah – I was able to watch the video today. Well worth waiting for……as usual. I agree with the other comments about your colour choices – you’re so talented. I am going to give a friendly (please take it that way) tip though – the “en” of En Francais is pronounced as if it is “on”. Of course, if you heard my pathetic attempts at speaking Spanish you would dluagh your butt off!!!
Darlene DeVries
@Catherine – no offense taken! Believe it or not, my daughter is fluent in French because she attends a French school, but I don’t speak it at all (as if you can’t tell). I’m sure if she heard me in the video she would laugh herself to tears. 🙂

So very pretty and can be used for so many things! Thank you again for sharing your talents — I am so happy to have found your site as my upline is no longer involved with Stampin up! So I am clinging on to you!! LOL Yes your very own stalker!
Have a great weekend
