Wednesday’s Card: Floating Cupcakes

Happy New Year!!

Hope you all have a wonderful holiday! It was nice to have a little break. I got lots of crafty goodies as gifts this year, so I’m excited to get busy! Plus, I have quite a wishlist going for the new Stampin’ Up! Occasions Mini Catalog, which releases today! I wish I could just stop buying – goodness knows I’ve got plenty to work with already. But it’s just so fun! Just fyi – the big Stampin’ Up! Sale-a-bration sale doesn’t start until January 24th. Personally, I plan to hold my mini catalog wishlist purchases until then so that I can get a bunch of free stuff (a free product for each $50 you spend). I’ll keep you posted and let you know when you can view the SAB catalog online.

This card uses a new set from Hero Arts called Happy Birthday Cupcakes. The set comes with matching Sizzix dies, which is really awesome. I tried them out and they work great, but I just decided I wanted a flat, simple card this time.

I got some new Copic markers – yeah!! I really needed some more variety. Instead of listing all the marker numbers, I figured it would be easier to just take a photo. I slowed down the video during the coloring so that you can see the technique better.

Thanks for the new video Darlene. I like to watch other people colour with Copics, as everyone uses a slightly different technique and I usually pick up some tips to use in my colouring.

i love it! i’ve enjoyed all of the videos i’ve seen of yours… in particular, i appreciate your not over-blending the copics. in all the vids i’ve watched while learning about copics, they teach to blend, blend blend… but i really like it not blended to that extent.. i’m not necessarily going for realism, so this is exactly the look i’m going for. thank you so much for sharing your techniques!
