Wednesday’s Card: Faux Letterpress Ornament Gift Tags

Letterpress Ornaments

Happy Holidays All!!

Okay, so I know this isn’t a card, but I had to be practical this week! I needed some gift tags. I actually created these tags from all white paper. No patterned paper here, but you could totally make this completely simple by using different patterned papers. I used two Tim Holtz holiday Sizzix packs – one is a die called Ornaments and the other is a set of embossing folders called Sizzix Branches, Swirls, & Ribbons. And seriously? You can actually use these as ornaments on a tree! How cool would that be…. a project where you create a whole tree of fun ornaments. So many projects, so little time. Maybe someday…

The faux letterpress technique involves inking an embossing folder and running it through your Big Shot/Cuttlebug (or whatever die cutting machine you have). For both ornaments, I inked the side with the background so that the raised portions are all white.

The back sides of the ornaments are all white, so that’s where you would write your “to/from” message. And, of course, I sprayed them with shimmer mist! I used a new Stampin’ Up! background stamp called Netting (the purple part above). I really like it! Such a small and subtle background pattern.

Anyway, enjoy and have a wonderful Christmas!!

So creative! I think being liberated from the constraints of Stampin’ Up has fueled your creativity further 🙂
