Wednesday’s Card: Detailed Copic Girl!

Copic Girl

Hi All!

A couple of things before I get to this week’s card…

First, guess what?! I have been selected to be part of the Faber-Castell Guest Design Team for Oct-Dec, 2012!! They just announced the team yesterday. I am so, so excited! I don’t have any details on what I’ll be doing, but who cares??!! It’ll be fun I’m sure. Stay tuned, I’ll let you know as soon as I find out.

You may remember this card from my Copic Tutorial. I showed it in the video and said I would eventually do a video. Today’s the day! I seriously had to wait until the kids went back to school because I knew this video would take longer. It’s a lot of coloring! The pink and yellow striped border is all done with coloring.

I did the first version of this card on Neenah cardstock. The second version (the one I color in the video and the one in the photo above) uses Copic XPress It paper (thank you to Angela for sending me some to try out!). I mentioned at the beginning of the video that I would let you know how they compare at the end of the video. Well, I forgot to discuss it at the end, lol! I was actually pretty surprised at how similar the results were. I used the same Copic colors on both cards. It’s funny because in some parts, the Neenah looked slightly better, but in other parts the Copic XPress looked slightly better. I think the difference is my coloring and how well I blended the colors together – not the paper at all. In other words, both papers, in my opinion, give great results that are indistinguishable. So there you have it.

Enjoy and have a great week!

I’m sure your little daughter will love this card. Thanks for taking the time to make this video, it was 14 + min. long so I wonder how long did it take you in real time.

Fabulous tutorial. I just have gotten into Copics and this is just so helpful for the novice! You make it look so easy. I think I press too hard as I get bleed…even when using Memento Ink and Neenah. Thanks for the comparisons of the two papers….I like the whiteness of the Neenah…isn’t the Copic paper a bit darker…or have a different cast to it?
Anyway, I always love seeing an email from you on Wednedays….a great start to my day!

PS Darlene have you done any work with Spectrum markers and if so how would you rate them? By the way. Love your new site Pass The Protein. Good luck with that venture. I am sure you will do well with it with your passion.

    Hi Darlene,

I just wanted to let you know how much I love this card and the wonderful tutorial you provided. As soon as the video was over, I headed over to Amazon and purchased the stamp. I finally was able to breakout the copics yesterday and color her up. I had your video playing the whole time and kept pausing. I have to admit, I used the same color palette you used and pretty much copied you, but I just LOVED everything about your card; you are such an inspiration! This will be for my niece whose birthday is next week. Thanks for taking the time to share your talent with all of us. Hugs, Tina

I’m amazed at your “poles” on this card. They look so cylindrical, it is hard to believe it is just flat, and the actual base card. WOW!!! You do wonderful work. No wonder teams are asking for you! I have been away from card making for over a year, but watching your videos is making me itch to get back to it. Thank you so much for all of your videos. You Rock!
