Watercolor Wings

Watercolor Wings

Hi All!

Today I’m using one of my new favorite sets by Stampin’ Up! (to see my favorites from the new catalog, CLICK HERE), Watercolor Wings. The butterflies are layering stamps, so you can create lots of fun multi-color butterflies.

I used masking again. Now that we have this challenge going, you’re going to notice how much I use masking!

To get the butterflies to pop, I used my Black Zig Watercolor Brush. It’s part of my 12-count set, but man, I wish I had gotten the 36-count set. I’m still thinking about it! You can purchase the black by itself if you want. I noticed it’s currently out of stock at Simon Says Stamp, but it’s in-stock at Ellen Hutson (at least for the moment). I think it’s going to be very useful for adding detail.

One other detail about the video… I thought I had grabbed my .3 Copic liner for the antennae, but it’s actually the .05! And that’s why it looks so delicate.

Anyway, enjoy the video and have a wonderful weekend.

Hi Darlene, The way you did those butterflies was super cool. I just loved the soft ethereal look you achieved. I may break down at some time in the future and get that new Stampin Up butterfly set. But for now, I’ll try a similar card with one of my other many butterfly stamp sets.

So pretty. I love all the details with pulling it all together (as usual)! I was glad to see you used another stamp brand other than SU for the 2-step stamping.

The lovely two-step stamping is done with Stampin’ Up!’s Watercolor Wings stamp set!

Boy that turned out well…the corrugated paper really adds a lot of texture.

Oh Darlene, your card is gorgeous, you colored this butterflies so beautifully, with fabulous detail and patience, but when I saw your panel flip over on top of the ink on your mat, I literally yelled “NOOOOO!!!!!” Oh my gosh, my heart skipped a beat, honest. I would have been a tragedy to mess it up, I bet a little fairy fluttered her wings to prevent the panel from touching the inky water.
Thank you for another fantastic video and tons of inspiration.

Great catch Darlene. If it was me, I would have had the black ink absolutely everywhere. 🙂
I love the way you have masked this particular butterfly image.

Hi Betsy. Actually, I’m not sure – it was on the washi wall at JoAnn’s. It was pretty cheap, maybe $1? So I threw it in my cart. 🙂
