Welcome to the second card in my series about PanPastels. The videos in this series are so short! That just means you can get a beautiful look in a lot less time. 🙂
I used my finger to apply 3 different PanPastel colors to this background. It reminded me of finger-painting days – it was very relaxing. Here is a close-up of the color:
I created another version of this card with less color. I put less PanPastel on my finger and I didn’t layer the color:
Here’s a close-up of this second, lighter version:
Enjoy the video and have a wonderful weekend!

Amazing results for such little product and for so little time….

Oh I really loved this card. It just so happens that I have this background stamp and love using it. But I think the pan pastels give it an especially nice look whether it is pale or vivid in colour. I can hardly wait to get my set of 5 pan pastel Shades starter set. But, I imagine in time I will want to include more colours in my stash (smile).

So simple and beautiful – I like those! My preference is the vivid coloring. Thanks Darlene and have a wonderful holiday weekend.

Connie, you took the words right out of my mouth!! ha ha. I love these cards too. My favourite colours but I think I will be tempted to make a set of these trialling different colour combinations. I am waiting for my Oxide Distress inks and a few other goodies to come to Australia from San Francisco with a friend about
11 June (can’t wait). Thanks Darlene.

Really pretty. I like both cards.. I might try a small set! Your site is sooooo bad, it feeds my addiction. Between this and Bible art Journaling, my craft room is ready to explode!! Thanks, Darlene!

Okay, you used my favorite color, yellow in this, so right now I am smiling. My favorite colors together are yellow, orange and green but they have to be certain shades of each. 2 friends of mine who are artists said that my use of colors is amazing and that I am an artist. I’d love to get these and I looked on Amazon because I have points to spend but boy were they expensive. I’m going to see if I can get them cheaper on Amazon and colors that I like. I also checked Dick Bliss and I didn’t like any of the colors they had together on their. I like these though because they look like they would be a lot of fun to use. I’m going to keep looking on Amazon for them and check out the colors that come in each set. I have points to spend! LOL

Forgot to mention that I love your cards! I love that background! I got a page from Amazon with stencils that I really liked and could use my points. I love stencils and I love yours!

Hi Darlene, I like this card! I have a similar background stamp called all over roses that would work for this! thanks for another great idea. Just wanted to mention that I watched a video with Tim Holtz and he stated that the oxide inks will not be available in the minis because of the formulation of the ink. Too bad, as I was looking forward to getting them. Oh well, guess I will have to buy the large pads.😎
darlene
Hi Carol. I think they are worth getting the big pads – I really have been enjoying mine.

Thanks Darlene, love your cards & all of your videos; I always really look forward to them. Do you find that the pan pastels & the versamark will smudge?
Wendy
darlene
Hi Wendy. The Versamark didn’t smudge at all – and I know I touched it several times. It’s really quite amazing!

Love this card! So pretty! I have a couple of questions though: how long does it take the VersaMark to dry? Or do we need to worry about that? And would we be able to use Gelatos instead? I have those and I’m always looking for ways to use them. Thx Darlene!
darlene
Hi Cheryl. You apply the PanPastels while the Versamark is still wet. When you put the PanPastels on, the dryness of the pastels removes the stickiness of the Versamark. It’s not totally smooth to the touch, so you could add a fixative if that bothers you. Gelatos are completely different from the PanPastels, so you wouldn’t use them on Versamark. Gelatos are more like a lipstick and the PanPastels are more like chalk.

Thanks, Darlene, the cards are beautiful!
I also want to know whether you have to wait for the Versamark to dry, or can you use the Patels immediately?
Just love the more vibrant card ….

Sorry – Pastels…………..
darlene
Hi Vee. Actually, you want to use the PanPastels while the Versamark is still wet. The stickiness of the wet Versamark clings to the chalk.

Darlene, I am in love with this card and this technique! Thanks for coming up with yet another fabulous idea!

Do you have to set them with a fixative? Do they smudge?
