Hi All!
Since we are closing in on the final days of the Vellum Challenge, I thought I would use vellum for the card today. I must say that I am more impressed with the cards submitted for this challenge than any other challenge. If you haven’t already checked out the entries, please do so HERE. You really must check out these cards. Hopefully you will find some inspiration and submit your own entry. 🙂
I used some nested circle dies to create the rainbow and put vellum inside two pieces of cardstock to show through it. I also used my colorless blender to create some fur on this cute little puppy. Here is a close-up:
I love this saying…
One thing I added after the video was glossy accents to his nose. Enjoy!

SOOOOOOOOOO adorable! I love how you used the vellum…so cute.
Dottie Lee
Why is it when I go to view the video all I get is a green screen?
Darlene DeVries
Hi Dottie. Did you get the video to play? Try refreshing your page. If that doesn’t work, check out the Help Page.
SandraMaria
Super cute card. I love that sentiment, also. Thanks Darlene!!
How is your daughter doing? She has probably made a full recovery by now? =)
Darlene DeVries
Sandra, she was fever free for 3 days. Then, yesterday, 103.3. She has a cough now, so the doctors think it is something completely different. I’m supposed to take her in on Friday if she’s not better by then. The highest she got today was 101.2. So, it’s an improvement. She’s so sick of me taking her temperature every 15 minutes!
Glynda
Can’t wait to see it Darlene! You’re so creative and talented.
Glynda
Okay, this totally didn’t go here! Supposed to go under your reply to me…sorry about that. I started to reply to your update on Courtney and it went here instead but – anyway, will be continuing to pray for her (and you) and the doctors for wisdom to diagnose and then effectively treat her.
SandraMaria
That’s so frustrating!! I hope they get it figured out quickly and get her properly treated!! Thanks Darlene for the update.

Hello Darlene,
I hope your daughter has fully recovered.Worrying takes soo much energy, so I hope you can sleep well again , and are recovering as well.
I love the card, especially the sentiment! Isn’ it such a great feeling, whenever you come home, your dog welcomes you with joy, and a wagging tail.
I wish you a good week, I am already looking forward to your next post.

Video is not playing back
Darlene DeVries
Hi Annie. Did you get the video to work? Try refreshing the page. If that doesn’t work, there are tips on the Help page.

All set. Don’t know what the problem was before. Love that dog!
Lizzie
I never get tired of watching you color, this card is super cute. I just hope I can emulate some of your shading on my own cards. Thanks for another great card…..Toodles!
Lizzie
P.S. Forgot to mention, I have also tried that vellum tape and I did not like it at all. The only one I have found is fairly good is Glue Dots International brand vellum sheets.
I cut them in strips or little pieces and it seems to work really well. You can’t see it at all if your using the thicker vellum and you can barely see it with the fine gauge vellum.
Beau
Did I mention that glossy accents is a great adhesive for vellum? It dries perfectly clear so once it is dry, you can’t see it behind the vellum. I can’t remember if I told you or not, if not I meant to.
Anyway, Great card it is really cute and that little pup is adorable.

Enjoyed watching you make/color your card!!
Suzanne
Another clever design! The dog is adorable, the sentiment perfect, and the copic coloring is amazing as usual! Thank you Darlene!
Anna D.
Wow! That was awesome pulling together elements from prior sets. How did you decide to us BG11 against BG4x? Did you utilize this hex grid I see published or just knew you liked that color combo?
Darlene DeVries
I have a chart of my colors that I consult with. I just look for the shades I want that match. I think I would go crazy with a huge chart of colors I don’t have! I think that hex grid would be great for selecting colors to purchase though.

I love this sentiment and I loved watching you do the shading on the dog. We adopted a 2-year old Black Mouth Cur in December and I think I do fairly well living up to his expectations. I just wish he loved hanging out in my craftroom… he’s such a male when it comes to that! 🙂

Wow, your creativity astounds me. How on earth do you come up with these ideas? I.E. your daughter…sickness or any infirmity can get the best of us down. My lifetime song is now ‘Through It All’ (author unknown). It basically says if we do not have any problems, we will never know that God can solve them. But when we do, we can lean on Him for strength, peace and a knowledge that through it all we can learn to trust in Him and depend upon His word. Praying for complete recovery and peace for you and your family.

This card is so cute. Love your coloring. Thanks.
Diana
Darling card. Once again, you hit it out of the ballpark. Thinking of you and your little one. I do hope she gets better real soon. I resubscribed to your site yesterday. Love what you do and how you do it.
Take care…
