Hi All!
I have the coolest technique to show you today! I learned it while taking the Copic Standard Certification class last week. You can create the look of texture on Copic coloring with fabric and colorless blender fluid. The possibilities are endless… denim, sweater, crochet, corduroy, anything! I used terrycloth in the card above.
The stamp set I used is one of the newer Stampin’ Up! Sale-a-Bration sets called For Being You. You can get this set for free if you spend $50 at Stampin’ Up!. However, you can use this technique with pretty much any stamp with a good-sized colored area. Here is the textured area up-close:
I created the heart-shaped card using the Little B heart dies I used on THIS CARD.

Awesome card. If you didn’t show me it was crooked, I would have never known! HAHA Also, that foam will clean right up with a baby wipe. I finally got my MISTI and I love it…how did we ever go so long without one????!?! Thanks for another great video! I will have to try this technique with my Spectrums…I wonder what burlap would look like? =)

Question: I have “tried” to use material and blender solution for texture in the past, but it has caused the Copic coloring to ‘bleed’ outside the lines. What might I be doing wrong? Too much blender solution, holding too long?? Thank you!

Yes, I realized that same thing after I took my photos because my camera can see more than I can! I took my 0 marker and pushed the color back over. I think what causes this is too much blender solution. I think a lighter spray would work better, then hold it down for less time. You can always do it again if you don’t get enough color removal.

Goodness Darlene, honestly, if you wouldn’t have said it was crooked, I wouldn’t have noticed either, what a pretty card!! and what an awesome technique!!! I love how the fabric serves as some kind of embossing tool, so fabulous.
And I think this is the first time you make a heart shaped card, love it, thank you for sharing.

I have a MISTI (love it) but I struggle with the foam backed stamps. I was hoping you would figure out a way to line them up straight! You are always so inventive with things like that. Any ideas???

I was using my foam-backed stamps with the stamp-a-ma-jig sheet in the misti. You can use vellum or anything see-through. The jig sheet can be wiped clean easily, so that’s what I used. So… insert jig sheet into misti, stamp onto jig sheet, line up cardstock under jig sheet, remove jig sheet, stamp again. I found that it was just as easy to use the stamp-a-ma-jig without the Misti. Maybe I will come up with something better after some more thought!

( If the stamp stamps crooked on the jig sheet would you then adjust the cardstock to be crooked in the MISTI ? ) Maybe the stamp-a-ma-jig
would be just as easy alone……….

Well, the stamp is crooked because of user error – I didn’t visualize it correctly with the jig. What I should have done is drawn a pencil line on my heart, then lined it up against that.

No, no, Darlene, I wasn’t referring to your crooked stamping (it’s not even noticeable). 🙂
The problem with the foam backed stamps is that the image rarely lines up with the image stuck on the back. Seems it is always a little higher/lower or crooked. My question was if once the stamp is positioned on the MISTI would you just maneuver the cardstock so the image would stamp straight on the card?
At that point it seems, as you said, it might be just as easy, or even easier, to use the stamp-a-ma-jig with out the MISTI?
I keep trying to figure out how to get the foam back stamp on the MISTI straight. Other than repeated stamping on scratch paper and adjusting until straight I am at a loss. 🙁
