Hi All,
I have a couple of fun techniques in the video today. The first is texturing this kitty with colorless blender solution, and the second is using ink inside an embossing folder. I’ve actually used this embossing folder technique a few times in the past, including on this card and these ornaments.
Here is a close-up of the texture created by the colorless blender solution:
Today is the LAST DAY to enter the giveaway for this punch storage. Be sure to upload a photo of your craft space to enter. Some people have commented that they don’t have a room to photograph. That’s why it’s called a “space”! Take a photo of your work area, even if it’s just a table. This is a serious prize! 🙂
Tomorrow I will be removing all the duplicate entries (please upload just one photo). If you know you’ve already uploaded multiple photos, please help me out by removing the extras. I will use a random generator to pick the winner.
Also, in case you’re not subscribed, the 4th episode of Crafted Spaces went live last week. I can’t wait to get the actual tours of these rooms.
Enjoy the video and I’ll be back tomorrow. 🙂

Another cute card, Darlene! Love the effect of the ink in the embossing folder.

OMG…another adorable card

The tip with the stipple brush is awesome…I’m awful at Copic coloring, especially animals but this is a trick even I may be able to pull off. It makes such a difference. Love how your card turned out.

Wonderful card.

Yes, come on people. Just take a photo of your kitchen table or desk with your crafty supplies out…wherever you “play”!!! Stamp-n-Storage products are very good quality and are worth it!!!

Darlene, I just love how you made that brick wall, the texture must look fabulous in person. That kitty is just adorable, I love the texture of his fur done with that bristle brush, that a great idea.
I can’t wait for the drawing tomorrow, good luck everyone.
Irene
Cute! I need to pull out this stamp set. I’ve had it a year and still haven’t inked it up. lol

I just used that stamp set yesterday…well, one of the sentiments. :b Love the card and the brick wall trick…you are so clever!! Did you consider using glossy accents on the eyes after you darkened them with the pen? Thanks for sharing, Darlene!! =)
Darlene DeVries
Hi Sandra. Actually, it did cross my mind but then I thought it would mute the black a little. Sometimes a thick bit of glossy accents can be a little cloudy. I didn’t want to take any chances after working so hard on the coloring. 🙂
SandraMaria
I understand that. I have noticed that since I put my glossy accents in a fine tip bottle, now it’s coming out with little tiny bubbles in it. I was almost better off leaving it in the hokey bottle it came in. It’s not like I’m shaking it up before using it….lol Any suggestions? I will ask in the forum, too. =)
Andrea
I love your little kitty! I’m so much a cat person, so anything feline gets my “yes” vote. 🙂 I also like the effect on the brick wall–it just looks so realistic! I’ve had hit-or-miss results with inking embossing folders. Actually, more miss than hit. Do you find that the type of ink makes a difference? Anyway, just wanted to say how much I love your card. Tfs! ~ Andrea
Darlene DeVries
Hi Andrea. I’ve had luck with multiple brands, including distress inks, so I wonder if it has to do with the juiciness of the ink pad. You need quite a bit of ink to get good coverage.

So cute! I’ve thought about buying that EF so many times but wasn’t sure if I’d like it, now I know I really want it. Never thought to use the blender solution in that way. Thanks for tip and the cute kitty.

Adorable! Tip on colorless blender is awesome! Julie

Really cute card thank you for the texture tip:)

Hi Darlene,
I keep encountering a “trouble with playback” and can’t view this video. Any suggestions? Thanks.
Darlene DeVries
Hi Patti. I’m sorry about your trouble. Have you tried the suggestions on the Help page? Also, try refreshing your page and playing the video again. That sometimes helps me when I’m having trouble on any video Web site.

Love your card Darlene! That cat turned out so cute, and I love the texture you gave it with your blending solution. The brick wall is fabulous too. I love the look you got from inking the embossing folder. Hugs, Brenda

Cute card. I have to agree with Andrea in regards to inking up embossing folders. I haven’t had any hits yet if you were to categorize by hit or miss. But yours sure looks good! I like your stipple brush technique too!
