Stencil Masking

Stencil Masking

Hi All!

Today I layered Oxide ink over Distress Ink using a stencil. I used Broken China and Lucky Clover, but I think this technique would look great with a light pink and a red. Or a yellow and green. The design could easily be used for a masculine card.

I really like this new Mod Stripe stencil. Here is a close-up of the inking:

This came together so well. I really love the way the oxide covers the distress ink. I wonder what it would look like if you’d spritzed with water since the blue was underneath. I’ll have to try that myself. Great end result and one I’ll definately case. Thanks for the inspiration.

Darlene, I LOVE this graphic design! Great color combo, and I like how the black splatters add a more organic element to lessen the sharp lines from the stenciling. Really helps the composition, I think. Thanks so much for sharing this! 😺 ~ Andrea

How simple and effective is that. I like the colour combination and that there is such a variety of combinations to be used. Thanks Darlene.

Hi Darlene! Love the card and the stencil, but wondering does it stay sticky after you’re finished or can you wash it off? I used a different brand and it doesn’t wash off and every black cat hair in my house has found that stencil! Luckily I only sprayed (and ruined) one stencil. If anyone else has an idea, please chime in! 😎

Hi Carol! Mine stays sticky, but I still respray when I use it again. I usually rinse it, then air dry it sticky side up. I put it right back into the package.

What a great masculine card. I really liked the stencil and the way you positioned it made it even more interesting. Those black splatters were a perfect touch against the black Happy. It all came together so well.
