Hi All!
Thank you to everyone who wished me well during my weekend move. I’m still alive! I have yet to unpack my craft room though. Luckily, I recorded a couple of videos before moving that I could post this week. Since we are in a small rental house for the next 2 months, I’ve taken over the dining room. It’s actually pretty awesome! It’s the first time I’ve had my crafting table AND the desk with my computer in one room. The desk is actually a folding table, but who cares!
I want to thank Kimberly for introducing me to Prima Snowflake Paste. This stuff is pretty cool! I used it to create the snow on the ground. Here is a close-up of the texture:
Enjoy the video and have a great week!

Beautiful card, Darlene!

Wow….I am going to have to order some of that paste for sure. Beautiful card as usual!

Beautiful card! I have been using your method of lining up panels using the MISTI, and all I have to say is you are a genius! BTW, I have to trim all my cards ever so slightly, as well. 🙂
Bertie
Love this card. I have been using my Misti to align projects as well. Love your videos. Thank you.

Oh, I love the texture of the snow banks Darlene, what a beautiful and sparkly card.
The water color background is just gorgeous, I need to get me some of that masking fluid.
Thank your for sharing this lovely, wintry card.
Hugs.
Connie
Congratulations on surviving the first stage of your move! I love the colours you’ve selected in this card. As that amazing Prima snowflake paste is unavailable in Australua, what would you suggest to get a similar effect.?
Darlene DeVries
Hi Connie. I know there have been other comments about this, but I think mixing some glitter into plain embossing paste would work pretty well. Or, what I’ve done in the past is sprinkle some glitter embossing powder on top of the white paste, let it dry, then heat emboss. That way, the glitter won’t come off.
Connie
Hi Darlene, thanks for these good suggestions. I also found some Cosmic Shimmer Texture Paste in Frosted Dawn and plan to try it too. In closing, just wanted to be sure to wish you and your family a Happy Turkey Day.
Darlene DeVries
Thank you Connie. 🙂

Not convinced about the paste yet, but I love the card overall…..the background colours, and especially that sparkle embossing powder!!! Also….I did find the big Brush at a Michaels here in Canada.
Andrea
Gorgeous card, Darlene! Love the colors you used in the sky. Looks like a beautiful sunset. I was wondering if you could mix glitter with embossing/molding/modeling paste or gel medium, to get the same effect as the Prima paste? I’ve been mixing glitter in with Liquitex gel medium lately. I haven’t actually gotten the cards to work out, but it wasn’t because of the paste. It seemed really pretty & sparkly, though! 🙂 Just not opaque. Hope you get in your permanent new house soon! ~ Andrea
Connie
Good idea Andrea. Thought I’d also try some plain white texture paste and sprinkle a little snow glitter on top before it dried.
Connie
Hi again Andrea! For you but also for my Australian and NZ friends especially, I found some Cosmic Shimmer Texture Paste Frosted Dawn at Scrapdragon.com just now that would work well. It’s $9.99 plus postage.

Thanks for the info always frustrating when products are used and half the time we can’t get them here

Beautiful card, as usual! I think what is happening to your top card is all the water you have to use and then especially when you have to heat it, there is something about watercolor paper that makes it shrink every so slightly. May be all the different strands in the paper itself, but I have noticed it as well Good Luck on your moving, may the Lord be ever at your side for a smooth transition.

Really enjoyed this card. Loved the different colours for the background.

You are so creative Darlene, you just are. I am loving that snow embossing powder and the paste. So, so gorgeous. Plus the sky colors are amazing, although I never would have thought to use them together. Thank goodness there are people out there like you to teach me this stuff!
Darlene DeVries
Thank you Terri. 🙂

I can’t wait to try these colors for a sky… I need to get back to water coloring. Fun glitter paste! I, too, am using my MISTI to align… And that led me to using the 1/8″ notches on my scoreboard for centering my top piece onto on cardstock… A huge difference in the percentage of cards I get straight the first time!
Suzanne
Beautiful card, Darlene!! I love the sky colors you chose!!
FranA

Darlene, once again another fabulous video. Love the colours, must try them. Glad to hear all went well for the first move. It is well worth it when you finally move into that brand new house. So exciting. As it is 2.10 am I think I had better get some sleep. Got a bit carried away tonight.
