Silk Glaze Watercolor

Persian Motifs

Hi All!

Last week I used Luminarte Silk Glaze paints to create a vibrant background. I was planning to use them again for stamping (I’ve seen it done on YouTube), but honestly, I was having a hard time getting a good image. I’m kind of a perfectionist, so I just wasn’t happy with it. I decided to try out watercoloring, and it turned out great.

Because these paints have mica in them, the shimmer is awesome. Here is a close-up:

Persian Motifs

I used the Persian Motifs set by Altenew. I love these delicate flowers. The outline is very thin, so you can make them look more “real”. I used my distress markers with these flowers on THIS CARD.

Enjoy the video!

Beautiful card. The Silk Glaze seems very similar to radiant pearls, which was popular in the stamping world about 10 years ago or so….

Hi Darlene, the color combination makes it! I don’t usually think to mix blue and green but this is really nice! The way you were using the paints….you will have enough for the rest of your life! ?

I know, Carol! It seems like a small jar, but you don’t need much.

I so look forward to every card you share. This card is simply beautiful. You make it all look so doable, but I just do not have you eye. I watch your cards and wish I could make it look the same. Thank you for sharing your talent.

Wow, such a beautiful card!! I love that sanding block fix…I have used it on other cardstock too with no problems. I was cutting using my Big Shot and there must have been something on one of my cutting plates because several of my panels had black splotches on them. Since I just picked up new cutting plates — I hope I have fixed that. :b Thanks Darlene!! =)

Hi Sandra. I noticed that about mine awhile back. I think it was from running black cardstock through the machine. It gets little black dust inside the scratches. If you try to wash it off with a rag, you’ll see them. It’s kinda gross.

I started using my new plates and I noticed they are softer than the old ones. By that I mean that my ‘no cut plate’ still got marks in it from the non cutting side of the dies. I didn’t have that issue before so now my ‘no cut plate’ is ugly. =/

Ah well, it still did the job and I didn’t think of washing the old one but it was time for a new set anyway! =)

Love the card! The flowers look so real! You make shading look SO easy! I can’t get mine to look that natural.
