Hi All,
Today’s card is quick and easy to make, no special skills needed. I combined white ink with some distress ink and voila, you’ve got a pretty tree that looks like you’ve spent a lot more time than you did. I love those kinds of cards!
I wanted to make sure the sentiment got enough space, so I started the card by stamping it first on the bottom. The only problem is that I think my tree is a little too high. If I had to do it over, I think I would start with the tree.
I changed up the sentiment to include “GOD” with my alphabet stamps. This card would make a nice sympathy card, but I plan on sending this to Rebecca, who is completing Phase 1 of her treatment. Her tumors are shrinking, so her treatment plan is working!
Enjoy and have a great weekend!

I really thought this card was very special and I know that Rebecca is going to love it too. I’m also so glad to hear she is progressing well. I just love this shadow effect and the sentiment was absolutely perfectl. Top marks, Darlene!

Love the cherry blossom tree! At first glance, I thought you hand wrote the sentiment. Such a pretty card. So glad to hear Rebbeca is improving.

Great news about Rebecca! Glad to hear her tumors are shrinking. =)
Love the card Darlene…did you have to heat set that white ink before you stamped with the pink? The leaves almost look as though they are popping up off the tree, it’s a really neat effect. Thanks for sharing!! =)
Oh I almost forgot…are you going to use the SU! white pigment ink in the comparison?
Darlene DeVries
Hi Sandra. I forgot to mention that I let the white ink dry first. I always prefer to do that than heat-set it if I have the time. And yes, I am adding SU to the comparison. I had to order a refill for my pad, which is why I’ve delayed the comparison. It arrived yesterday, so I’m hoping to do it next week!

Oh awesome! I was really really really hoping you would include it. YAY! Thanks Darlene!! =)

Darlene, I’m so very happy to hear Rebecca’s treatment is working, I hope she will continue to improve, she is a very strong young lady and her family and friends are a very important part of her strength.
This card is so lovely, the leaves on this tree look like little puffs of white, so beautiful.
Thank you for sharing and hugs to Courtney.

Really like how the pink over the white creates what reminds me of a cherry blossom tree.

It really does appear to be quick and simple. Thanks for a Q&S elegant card that anyone would love to receive. I can think of so many uses for it. Really this could be one of those cards for most occasions……..

Great card, think I will try it for a friend in hospital. Thanks

Oh Darlene, this card is so beautiful!! And why is it that we can’t find stamps with GOD included on them or even just a stamp with “GOD” alone?
I do have a question. I have probably missed something. What is the “Finger tip technique with your left hand” that you mentioned in the video? I do apologize if I’m asking you to repeat something that I missed.
Thanks so much! Love, love, love this site and your cards!
Darlene DeVries
Hi Nancy. I use the “fingertip technique” when I am adhering one piece of cardstock to another. I lay down the cardstock with my right hand and use the fingertips on my left hand to get the layers into alignment. It’s not very scientific, but this little trick has helped me get those layers on a little straighter!
