  1. Colorburst Butterflies

    Colorburst Butterflies

    Hi All!

I’m using my Color Burst powders today. I only have the Brights set, but I find that they are totally sufficient for my enjoyment! They give the brightest and most vibrant look of all my color mediums.

I created my own background with all the butterfly stamps that come with this Pink Ink Butterfly Kisses set. The quality is great, and I love the images. Here is a close-up:

  2. Christmas Trees, I mean Witch Hats…

    Witch Hats

    Hi All,

I got this Quirky Trees set because I thought it would make a fun modern Christmas card, but I had the idea of maybe using the trees as witch hats for Halloween. With the Halloween colors, I think it worked pretty well!

As I said when we started the Halloween challenge, I’m not much of a Halloween card-maker, but I’m really enjoying it! I’m especially liking the challenge of using stamps that are not for Halloween. It’s always great to stretch your stamps!

    Enjoy the video!

I so love the Peek-a-Boo pals by Avery Elle. I used them previously on this card. Today I used them hanging from a tree branch. Here is a close-up of the little guys:

  4. Throwback Thursday!

    Throwback Thursday

    Hi All!

The purpose of Throwback Thursday is to “repurpose” some of the older content, making it new again. With the hundreds of videos, you probably have forgotten or maybe missed some of the old stuff. So, once a month I’m here with a fun reminder.

For today, I chose a Halloween card from 3 years ago that I made for an Ellen Hutson blog hop – it’s a pop-up ghost accordion:

    Ghost Popup

It was really easy to make – I used printer paper to make sure it was thin enough inside the card.

See the post for details and a video. Have a wonderful day!

    Hi All!

I have another Halloween card today for the October Challenge. However, I used a non-Halloween stamp set, Monster Fun. His horns were perfect for candy corn colors. Here is a close-up:

  6. Winter Woods

    Winter Trees

    Hi All!

I’m in a Fall kind of mood. I just got this Winter Woods set from the Stampin’ Up! Holiday catalog. I LOVE this set. I didn’t really even appreciate the stamp I used for this card until I actually used it. It’s seriously the finest set of tree branches I’ve ever seen – it’s like hair. In the video I keep referring to the branches as leaves, lol. In fact, I kept calling the set Winter Leaves, then Winter Trees, but then I got it right in the video: Winter Woods. I don’t know why it’s so confusing to me.

The photo of the card does not do it justice. You get a better view of it in the video. Here is a close-up of the branches:

    Winter Trees

Be careful with the water – too much water and you lose the detail. You can always add more, so go slowly.

    Enjoy the video!

  7. October Challenge: Halloween!

    Halloween Challenge

    Hi All!

Welcome to the October Challenge! I really don’t make a lot of Halloween cards, so I’m really looking forward to doing more for this challenge.

The last day to submit your entry is Wednesday, October 31st, 11:59pm CT. One random winner will be selected from all entries and announced on Thursday, November 1st.

    SimonSaysStamp Gift Voucher
The giveaway will be a $25 gift voucher to Simon Says Stamp, one of my favorite stores!

Okay, just to recap the main rules:

    • Your card should be in the theme of Halloween.
    • You can submit as many entries as you like! However, please submit only one entry per card.
    • After submitting your entry, leave a comment on the entry just before yours.
    • Leave more comments on entries, if you’re so inclined. 🙂
    • To be eligible for a prize, you must be an active member of LiveLoveCards at the time the winner is announced and your card must have been made in the current month.

Are you ready to enter? CLICK HERE!

Today’s card is really simple and easy to make:

    Halloween

It’s very hard to get a good photo with the black and the sparkliness of it. I used the Simon Says Stamp Repeating Circles die, which makes these windows very aligned with no effort! But, you could of course repeat a circle die yourself or use a punch. I feel like punches aren’t as popular anymore, but I really do think they are so useful!

Fill your circles with whatever you have on hand – pumpkins, witch hats, bats, ghosts, or even skulls.

I jazzed up my spiders with Black Sparkle embossing powder and my candy corn with Wink of Stella clear glitter pen. Here is a close-up:

    Halloween

Have fun with the theme this month… I can’t wait to see your cards!

  8. September Challenge Results!

    Hi All!

Thank you to everyone who participated in the September Thinking of You Challenge! Please do check out all the great entries when you have a few minutes.

This month’s random winner of the Simon Says Stamp $25 gift voucher is entry #38 by Cheryl. Congrats Cheryl!

There are a few I want to highlight this month…

This card by Sarah immediately caught my eye as the cutest and most thoughtful thinking of you:

    Sarah

I love that the whole thing is blue, including the bunny sweater. And those rosy cheeks. The sentiment is just so simple and says it all. I just love it so much.

Next is this colorful beauty by Donna:

    Donna

Not only is the coloring fantastic, but the animals are so darling. They have their eyes closed, like they are really thinking of you. And the bird on the rhino is too cute.

Next is this beautifully colored bouquet by Sherry:

    Sherry

First, the coloring is gorgeous – I love how the tips get more red as you move outward from the center until they are bright red at the very edge. I also like how this card is an unusual size. I never think to fit my card to the stamp – it’s always the other way around!

Finally, this masculine card by Hannah:

    Hannah

Hannah downloaded the ship image from the internet for her card. I’m thinking about how much you can personalize a card by doing this. Maybe you and a friend have an inside joke about a product, a character/celebrity, or maybe a special location. You could incorporate a photo of it on your card. Anyway, in addition to that, I love the knot!! Nautical is kind of a popular theme for cards – this knot is such a great idea!

Thank you again to everyone who took the time to submit a card. I’ll be back in a few to launch the October Halloween Challenge!

  10. Stencil Masking

    Stencil Masking

    Hi All!

Today I layered Oxide ink over Distress Ink using a stencil. I used Broken China and Lucky Clover, but I think this technique would look great with a light pink and a red. Or a yellow and green. The design could easily be used for a masculine card.

I really like this new Mod Stripe stencil. Here is a close-up of the inking:
