Popup Dies and DIY Glitter Paper

Bear Popup

Hi All!

Today I’m using the Lawn Fawn Everyday Popup Dies to pop-up my Sunburst, which I made using adhesive sheets and microfine glitter. As soon as I saw these dies, I knew I needed them, lol. 🙂 By the way, I keep calling the Sunburst die a “starburst” in the video. Haha – sorry about that!

Here is the simple outside of the card:

Bear Popup

And here is a better photo of the inside sunburst, which is popped out 1/2″ from the card base:

Here is a close-up of the glittery shimmer of the sunburst:

I also used a copic marker technique to “texturize” my bear fur:

The Everyday Popups set comes with 7 pieces, which I labeled for easier reference:

To be honest, the dies that are scored in the middle are not very helpful (#1, 6, and 7) – you can accomplish the same thing with a pair of scissors. However, the other dies are definitely useful, making cuts you cannot easily make with a scissor.

This video is a little longer than usual, but it is filled with lots of good stuff. Enjoy!

Good grief, Darlene, how do you figure out how to do all that? You are mind-blowing! I love this so much. Hallmark ain’t got nothing on you! 🙂 Thanks for sharing!!

This is an adorable card but I doubt I’d ever have the patience to make it. Well maybe some day! However,as I always do, I still learned a couple of good tips from watching your video today. I now will know how to make glitter paper of any colour and how to give a furry look to my critters by using Copic colourless blender fluid on terry cloth. Very clever!

Darlene, I also am amazed at how you come up with these ideas! You must have the mind of an engineer. 🙂 Love this card, and your video is chock-full of great tips. I never would have thought to add the additional “altered” popup die cuts to the middle & higher on the sunburst. Great idea! Another alternative source for the glitter cloth is tack cloth in the paint department at your local hardware/home improvement store. (That’s basically all the glitter cloth is.) Thanks for sharing your paper engineering! 🙂 ~ Andrea

Thanks so much, Andrea, for that great tip about tack cloth being the same as glitter cloth. There is no glitter cloth available in Australia but plenty of inexpensive tack cloth. I just bought some on Ebay. Too easy!

I didn’t know that, Andrea! I will have to check it out net time I’m at the hardware store. Thank you!

Wow, you made that look so easy Darlene! But I know if I would try and do it, it wouldn’t come out like yours did. lol Super fab card! Hugs, Brenda

Wow, this is adorable!! If you still have the card after a few days, does the glitter really stick or can you brush some off? I have tried this once with a stencil and it didn’t turn out very well. I think I will try your version and see! TFS ?

Hi Carol. It’s been several days and I just rubbed it with my finger. No glitter at all coming off.

Love that glitter! I have the cool diamond, it’s a fantastic effect! I don’t use a lot of glitter cardstock because I don’t like how bulky and thick it is so your glitter paper idea has opened up a whole freeway of cardmaking for me. ~8) This is a super cute card. I love how the heart is not hanging straight…really gives it some more personality! Not that it needed it, either. :b Great idea making that starburst pop up, you don’t see too many cards like that. I love the way you think, Darlene. Thanks for sharing…I think this is one of my gazillion favorites of your cards. =)
