Hi All!
I wanted to make another personalized card for this month’s personalized card challenge. I used my Layered Letters Alphabet set and my MISTI to easily create a drop shadow.
I repurposed my Sheltering Tree leaves as silver confetti, and I drew in a hook and string to make the letters into ornaments. Here is a close-up:
I hope you like it!
By the way, did you notice that I added a link to the current challenge in the main menu? Just mouse-over the “Challenge” menu item and you’ll see it’s the first option.
Enjoy the video!

I hope Maggie appreciates all the time and trouble you went through to make her this lovely card. But not being a card-maker herself, she may not. Nevertheless, I’m sure all of us appreciate you sharing your “mistakes” along the way. It makes me not feel so bad when I do the same things. And we always learn from them too. I love the Stampin Up letters and the colours of Distress inks you chose. Who would’ve thought to use the Sheltering Trees stamp set in that way. Very clever! I was amazed you could remove the embossing powder and then sprinkle new powder on and it would stick down again. I really learned something then! Overall, I definitely give you 10 out of 10 for originality with this card!! I might have to try it too!

Thank you Connie! 🙂

Oh Darlene!!! I also learned something new and important today…..I didn’t know you could brush off the embossing powder from your card panel and then, re apply it and it will stick to it’s original position, this is amazing!! Thank you for this awesome tip.
Now, this card is fantastic and oh so beautiful, I know that, if Maggie knows you are a card maker, she will appreciate the work involved in this card, even if she is never stamped anything in her life.
But rest assured my dear, all of us appreciate all of your work and thank you for allowing us to see how you fix your little mistakes.
Big hugs,
Maria.

You’re always so kind, Maria. Thank you!

Such a wonderful card for Maggie. I appreciate you allowing us to see how to “recover mistakes” especially as you say it was the third time you’d done the card, I know for me, it normalises those moments that I feel the frustration of my hard work gone a little left field. Got to love Versamark ink and its ‘ staying properties’ Thankyou for the fab tip about reapplication of the powder.
It would be interesting to find out how much time members of the community take to plan their cards. E.G. The way you had planned out the letters like M on the angle. Or if they wing it and have no actual plan.
Thanks for the inspiration.

OMG this is so cute!!! I have done the second application of embossing powder after forgetting something and surprised myself that it still worked! Great tip on getting the shadow effect, I really like it!?

Love the ombre look on the letters, Darlene! LOVE also that you used distress inks for this technique.

This is a very cool looking card Darlene! I love seeing how to do the drop shadow. And I really love how the two distress inks blended together and gave the mottled look. Hugs, Brenda

Beautiful and simple (not!) card, I love it.

I love it and I learned a lot with this tutorial…I had NO idea you could brush off embossing powder and reapply…I never would have thought of using the sheltering tree leaves in that way. Brilliant! And finally, I love the fact that I am not the only one who makes oopsies when creating something, makes me feel good that it happens to the best of us. 🙂

I’m partial to this card, even though I spell my name without an E. 😉

I didn’t realize either that you could brush off embossing powder and reapply. Wow great card. I also like how you used the sheltering tree leaves in a different way.

FANTASTIS!! I just bought alphabet dies. I think I will try using those to make a personalized card. I will pop up the letters to give them dimension. I love how you drew on hooks and made the confetti. Maybe I will add sequins. You really gave me a ton of ideas. I bought the letters to make the card with the pull tag bear you showed us. You always give the best ideas!!!
