Hi All,
It’s time for my monthly post on my blog, DarleneDesign.com. Today’s post uses Stampin’ Up!’s Summer Silhouettes stamp set and Peerless watercolors.
I’m also having a giveaway over there! It’s the same prize we have here for the May Challenge – a mini travel palette of Peerless Watercolors. You are eligible to win too, so please hop over there and leave a comment. 🙂
I included the ad-free video below so that we can enjoy it in the Gallery here. My videos here don’t accept links inside the video, so I included them below the video. See you Wednesday!

Gorgeous card! Masking fluid is the next supply on my list!
Betty
Darlene, you make water coloring look so easy. I think I’ll give it a try. I love the background you created and your use of the masking fluid.
Cjarutunian
What an awesome card. You make it look so easy. Thank you.
Sandy Joe
I like the 3d look of adding the second layers of flowers. Hadn’t considered doing that. Awesome technique
conil
Wow! That background is gorgeous. lovin’ that samp set, as well.
EDW
Nice card
If you want your paper to stay flat when you are water coloring you have to make the back of your card wet

Lovely, beautiful card, love the .asking fluid dots.
Valshim
I love the background. It’s beautiful!
Andrea
Neat idea to add the flicked dots of masking fluid! I’ve never done that. Usually I’ve just painted on the masking fluid. May have to give that a try, though. Love the watercoloring on your card! ~ Andrea
Whimsical Creations
Beautiful Darlene, love how the masking fluids allows you to reveal the white spots…have some, need to USE it. lol
How do you like your Apple watch?
Darlene DeVries
The Apple watch is a little bit of a problem. I’m addicted to it. At first it annoyed me because I had to touch it or flick my wrist to see the time (otherwise it’s black to save battery power). But, as Apply has hoped, I changed my behavior and now don’t mind it. Many times I don’t hear my phone ringing or texting, but now I feel it on my wrist. It tracks all my activity (steps, exercise, moving, standing). So, if I’m not wearing it, I feel like I’m getting cheated out of my activity! It’s not the prettiest thing to wear, but I sure do love it.
Brenda L.
I love this card Darlene! You always make watercoloring look so easy. lol This turned out really pretty. Call me crazy, but I so love dandelions. Hugs, Brenda
Darlene DeVries
I do too Brenda. I love them because my girls get so excited about making a wish and blowing on them.

Watercolour gives your card a much more artistic look. Just beautiful. And every card will be different. Such a personal touch.
shayes
Darlene, I love your work. The techniques you chose to use came together to make a beautiful card. Watercoloring and heat embossing are two of my favorites. How do you decide which colors to use? For example, how did you decide on the Orange, blue, and purple for the background?
Darlene DeVries
This was kind of an odd combo because orange and purple don’t mix very well. But, I was thinking about a sunset. Many times you see pink in the sunset, so I used purple to make it more intense.

What a beautiful card. I am gong to give it a try. Love your cards Darlene.

Wonderful video and the peerless watercolors look like so much fun to use!
Barb H.
I love this card! I’ll need to get some watercolors and masking fluid. Have you ever tried Scotch brand velum tape? You do a great job hiding the glue dots, but I find the velum tape so much easier.
Darlene DeVries
Hi Barb, no I have not tried it. I’ve tried several vellum-specific adhesives but I haven’t found anything I like. Does it really disappear, as it says?
Mrs_docko
If you use it exactly as per the instructions then it is great and not visible at all however I have found if you do your own thing with it and don’t read the instructions then you can see it a little. Learnt the hard way of course…… he,he,he.
Barb H.
I think it almost completely invisible
lsnodg
So pretty. Great technique to try.
Colleen F

I’d say that this one is pretty near perfection. Lovely!! I have the Peerless water colors and have yet to use them. Now I will try. Thanks for the great ideas.
Susan W.
Beautiful card. I have a fw of these watercolors but haven’t used them in years. You’ve inspired me to pull them out and play with them. Thanks for sharing. Susan W.
Wanda
Again, thank you for creating a lovely card! I will try the masking technique. Thanks again.

MaryRoxann
Love the card
Mrs_docko
Love the colour choice for this one. I must remember to pull out my masking fluid, I never remember that I have it so I forget to use it. Thanks for the nudge Darlene. 😉

I have been eyeing the Peerless watercolors and this card and video are not helping my wallet any! I love the intense color they offer as well as the ease of storing them. I’m in the middle of a huge organizing endevor – I have purged 6 truckloads out of our home – 1/2 of that out of my studio – to GoodWill and countless bags of trash – so anything coming into my studio must be justified and I have to know how I will store it as well as catalog it so I remember to use it.
As always, your card it inspirational and this one is simply beautiful.
Darlene DeVries
Holy cow – 6 truckloads is a lot! Good for you – I think it’s liberating to organize and purge. When we move at the end of the year, I’m hoping a lot of stuff is not coming with us. We still have lots of baby stuff in the attic! It needs to be organized, cleaned, and donated.
SandraMaria
This is so simple and so lovely! I am going to have to pick up that masking fluid because everytime I have seen you use it, it just amazes me!
Glynda
Such a beautiful card, Darlene!
swimbikerunat60
This is just such a lovely card, this image of Dandelions is so beautiful and I too love this hated weed, every year it’s a battle between my hubby and this pretty, yellow flowers, a battle that he ultimately looses, they come back year after year, they are resilient as they are beautiful. I just love to see the little seeds, bravely flying in the wind to land who knows where. Lets hear it for the humble and pretty Dandelion!!!!!
By the way Darlene, I literally gasped when you dropped that big blob of masking fluid, I stopped the video and rewound it and watch that part again. I would have been pulling my hair out in desperation. You always keep calm and solve the problem, fabulous nerves of steel.
Thank you for the chance to win this fabulous water colors.
Hugs.

I wish I had your artistic eye Darlene! Love this beautiful card! Thank you for sharing your art!
Mary Jane
Beautiful card! Thanks for sharing.
MIaFalco
What a simply beautiful card! Do the Peerless watercolors leave a bit of shimmer or am I just seeing things? Watercoloring is on my summer to-do list.
Darlene DeVries
No shimmer. None of the palettes I own have shimmer. I know the brand sells metallic paints, but I don’t know if they have any palettes like these with shimmer.
jamiebarber
I am new to watercolor. This is a great card. Thanks.
beaglemama
Gorgeous color combination
Susan Berry
What a beautiful card. Love the look of the sunset made with the peerless watercolors. I have not justified buying them but like the idea of a Peerless watercolor travel kit. Sure would be nice to win one. Thanks for the videos, have love every one.
