Hi All!
I just got the City Stack set by Concord & 9th. I bought it because it has 3 different landscapes – I love a set that has lots of options. For this card, I used only the houses and one of the sentiments.
I made a few mistakes in the video, so there’s also a little entertainment today. 🙂
I find myself getting cleaner and cleaner with my cards – I like to keep it basic without a lot of fluff. I don’t know if it’s because that’s the trend or just that my preference has changed. My cards have always been on the clean side, but I’m leaning towards more white. Have you noticed?

When you said that you’d made a few mistakes in today’s video, I imagined something awful was going to happen. But when you got to your “mistakes”, they were nothing really. In fact, you could just have skipped fixing the “mistake” with White Out. But being a perfectionist too, I can understand why you went ahead and got some. We just can’t help ourselves. Ha! Ha! As for the grass, I thought it was the right size patch because you wouldn’t have wanted it any smaller to accommodate the “Miss You” sentiment on top of it. All in all, this card was a winner in anyone’s book. And, yes, I have noticed you are using more white. For some reason I also started doing the same. I think I started doing this after the Challenge when we had to make our card front bottom heavy. They all looked so clean and striking that I started doing it subconsciously. I’ve also noticed that you are using a lot more geometric designs. This makes your cards more appropriate now for men as well as women. I like that approach too, so keep it up please!

Kinda funny but I’m going the other way. I used to have a focal point on my cards and that’s it. Now I’m doing more backgrounds and using more patterned paper.
I love the way the coloring of the one house made the other two appear to be set back.

Hi Dolores! Unfortunately, I have no idea. I left the brush in water overnight and the handle covering came off, so it’s just a piece of wood! From what I remember, it’s just an inexpensive brush I picked up at JoAnn’s in the single brush section.

I really really love this card. I have been playing with water coloring and I often forget about how well the Inktense (wet brush to pencil) works. As for C&S trending, YOU are my trendsetter. Have a great day!

“Good enough for government work”? I haven’t heard that phrase in YEARS! I think my dad used to say it sometimes. If not, I don’t remember where I heard it. Anyway, even though I’m definitely NOT a CAS type of girl, I do like this card. I think the way you colored only one of the houses to make it stand out is a neat idea. And then the other images are kind of a “bonus,” rather than everything being the focal point. I find that I tend to like to use layers–even if they’re only “visual” rather than actual panels of paper–and I do love me some patterned paper! I do keep my cards that I’m going to mail as flat as possible, to save on postage, but otherwise–stack ’em up! LOL Thanks so much for sharing this, Darlene! 😺 ~ Andrea

Oh my gosh Darlene!!! I love the idea of the white out stuff to fix those inevitable “ooopsies” that happen once in a while.
This card is adorable, love the sketchy look on these little houses and how sweet the one you colored looks.
You are very brave by drawing a frame around your finished panel, I don’t think I would attempt it but you have some pretty steady hand and it always looks fabulous, mistake and all.

Enjoy the other remarks, I would like to add this video is also a great beginner tutorial on no line water-coloring. I can’t thank you enough, a million times is not enough, for including the little oopsies. I am also a perfectionist and would have scrapped my card. So nice to know mentors make mistakes, and that it’s okay, like I need permission, lol. And I agree with Connie, not that big of a deal anyway. Nice to see how you fix them too. I have learned so much from you through the years. I continue to learn and to be inspired. Thank you for what you do — it makes a difference.
Gorgeous card, love the one house popping out. Easily conveys the feeling that the neighborhood isn’t complete, colorful or quite the same since someone moved… conveys the missing. That isn’t something you easily teach with technique as it is more intrinsic, and truly artistic to convey feeling I believe

What a BEAUTIFUL card!!!! Love love love!!! And it was sooo helpful to see the “mistake” and how you fixed it. Very clever. This was a good lesson for me; where there’s a will there’s a way to fixes!!

Hi Darlene, yes I have noticed you going more towards white cards…and I noticed that I don’t have many current cards in my favourites (no offence). I just want to put clouds and birds in the sky…a tree…too stark for my taste, but I certainly always learn a little trick or two from you so all is good! Keep up the good work! 😎
PS – I am the designer paper lover and use it on probably 75% of my cards!

First of all I really like the stamp set. Can be used in so many ways. I have noticed your “white” cards and that is because I love that look so thank you Darlene. I was impressed with the black outline on the house and I keep forgetting to do that. cheers, Glenis
