Today I’m using the new Altenew set called Oriental Orchid. I know I’ve mentioned before that I’ve had trouble with the Vintage Roses set. I was able to better line them up with the Misti, but still it’s hard to do. With this Oriental Orchid set, it was easier to line up. Not perfect, but easier. My theory is that the outline stamp makes all the difference.
The Vintage Roses set has no outline. So, in order to see the flower, you need to create the vision with the perfect combo of all the stamps. If they aren’t lined up perfectly, your eye can’t form the flower. With the outline, that work is already done. If the colors match up, great. If they don’t, then you probably won’t notice. Your eye is already seeing the flower because of the outline. In fact, I messed up one of the stamps but I didn’t even realize it until I was zoomed-in in PhotoShop! Can you tell which one?

Hi Darlene, do you have the cheat sheet that they have for the vintage roses set? it has little marks to know how to line up the stamps. its really easy for me and as long as I line up them up that way I have no trouble. without the sheet i’m hopeless. if you don’t have it let me know and i’ll find out where you can get it. love, treen

Hi Treen. I do have the cheat sheet, and I still can’t get it right except for just one of the flowers. I’m literally staring at the guide and I still can’t get it right. I think it’s some kind of brain issue for me. 🙂

after I wrote to you about the cheat sheet, I found a bunch of videos on each set of stamps. its really clear and she gives pretty clear directions as you watch her do it. Its called altenewacademy.com Its a site by altenew that gives classes. the first class is free and its about stamp layering. Hi Connie. I just replied to Glenis’s comment with the same question. The second one up. But when I looked at it again, I started to think maybe I did it right. I just checked the stamp set and low and behold – it’s correct! I think I’m just mentally challenged when it comes to these stamp sets. I don’t even know I did it right when I do it right. LOL.

It’s the second one. I think I stamped the darkest one upside down. I think. Now that I’m looking at it again, maybe I did it right, haha! If we can’t even tell, then who cares. 🙂 Definitely not the recipient!

Darlene, this card is just gorgeous, this flowers line up so perfectly, I think also, this is one of the easiest sets to stamp from Altenew.
I need to get one of those sanding blocks like yours, I don’t know why I sometimes mess up my cards by inky fingers, LOL!!
It’s harder when I stamp on Ninah card stock, when it happens on water color paper, all I do is rub the stain with the aqua painter and blot it with a paper towel.
When I was watching the video, I was thinking to ask you about those ink cubes to see if they are juicy enough but you answered my question on the video, thank you.

Wow, I know you are just going to love my little stream of messages here…lol
I can get the video to play in Opera, but the video box stays black until I click on it. From what I’m reading over at Vimeo they are changing how their videos playback. Anyway, in Firefox, if I click the video box I get audio but no picture. I have updated everything, rebooted and still cannot get the video picture. I will just check back in a couple days and see if this gets worked out because at this point, I don’t think it’s on my end…it has to be Vimeo. =/ I guess it’s almost time for dinner anyway. :b
