Hi All,
For today’s card, I wanted to use multiple colors on a single flower. I love the combination of pink and yellow. I tried lots of different combinations before deciding on these colors and in what order to apply them. I used 3 pinks and one pale yellow. I think you could use the same technique with pale yellow and 3 blues, 3 purples, or 3 oranges.
I really like the background created by the Woodland Frame die. Although I left it white, the sophisticated detail really gave the card some interest without pulling focus away from the flower. My original vision of this card had black and white flowers behind the main flower. However, that design turned out to be too busy – I really wanted to keep the eyes on the multi-colored flower.
I got my Simon Says Stamp order today – yahoo! It’s still packaged up, sitting on my kitchen counter right now. I am waiting for the perfect time to open it and enjoy every second of it. Everyone else would think that’s weird except for you guys. 🙂
One more thing – I added back the requirement for a URL into the June Challenge link-up. If I don’t require a URL, only the thumbnail gets saved. No one can click on it, and you can barely see it. I want to be able to fully enjoy your awesome work. I hope this isn’t too inconvenient. If you don’t already have a Pinterest or Flickr account, it’s quite easy to open one up.
Enjoy the video and have a great weekend!

This was such an effective card I really love it! And I also really love the stamp set you chose and the colours of Copic markers you used.

Beautiful card.

I just put the frame on my Pinterest wish list! Thank you.

Does this shout “stunning” or what? Darlene, it is so lovely. Can’t wait to see what you might do with the other flowers in that set. Thanks for another great tutorial.

Love this flower Darlene, you make it look to easy to color with Copics. I like the fact that you encased this lovely flower in that die cut frame and that you left it white, you are right, this way it doesn’t take any attention from the main image but still looks amazing around it.
Thank you for sharing this beautiful and easy card.
Maria.

what a gorgeous card Darlene!

Love the card….I could watch you colour all day long!

Beautiful. I love that frame. I’ve been wanting to experiment with using multiple colors on flower petals. I don’t know if it’s user error or that the Spectrum Noir markers just don’t blend as easily as copics, but I can’t seem to get it done to where I like it. Hmmmm…. I know…practice, practice, practice! lol

Just beautiful. Love that frame.

Your flower coloring is fabulous! Love that color combination of the yellow and pinks, with the resulting orange in between. Just a word of caution, though. You mentioned this could work well with pale yellow and purples. Since yellow and purple are complementary colors, they could easily create mud if you don’t do it carefully. I suppose if your purples were pale enough it might work. Just proceed with caution! 🙂 Anyway, just wanted to tell you how beautifully elegant your card is. Tfs! ~ Andrea

So pretty. I love how you colored the flower.

Thank you Darlene, I love this card but especially the colours you choose. I don’t have that Altenew stamp but tried them with Altenew Whimsical flowers and also with My Favorite Things Spring Tulips which came out sensational! I could really do with some more suggestions for ‘different’ copic colour combinations like this (rather than the usual matching copic colours if you know what I mean). Can I ask for some more ideas? many thanks
Darlene DeVries
Hi Shirley. I used multiple colors on this card and this card (the dots are a different color). I’ll have to keep this in mind and try to do a few more.
ShirleyM
thanks Darlene, I tried the colours from the Happy Stamp today on MFT lily and it came out really lovely, thank you!

Oh Darlene! This card is just incredibly gorgeous. You’ve inspired me! I really want this stamp set and want to try your method for coloring this flower. Absolutely stunning! And the frame is just perfect. I really adore it. I get very intimidated at coloring flowers with Copics bc I never know how to color them, which direction, where to add shadows, where to add veins, etc. I’m so inspired by this. Thanks so much. Xo
Darlene DeVries
Thank you Mary! I hope you’ll try it! 🙂
Jules
Oh so pretty!! Love the Copic combo! Will be trying using different colors too. Thanks for another inspirational card! Julie L

Another beautiful card Darlene, I so enjoy watching your videos and have learned so much since becoming a member of your site. I can’t afford to buy copics at the moment, they are on my birthday list though! I do have some intense pencils though and use them very often to colour after watching your videos. I love the style of sentiment on this card and have been looking for something similar, can you tell me what the stamp set is?
Darlene DeVries
Oh, I forgot to link to that stamp set! The sentiment came from Simon Says Stamp Artful Flowers. It’s a wonderful set that I’ve used multiple times. You can enter “artful flowers” into the search box to see them all.
Miss Robin
Beautiful!!!
