Hi All!
I am excited to be popping into the Faber Castell Design Memory Craft blog today! I love, love metallic Gelatos. They are very creamy, and the colors are fabulous. I have used them before on this card, this card, this card, and this card, just to name a few. You can get them all in one pack. Yay!
The colors in this pack work so well together. You see the enamel hearts? I created them using embossing paste and Ultra Thick Embossing Powder. It’s just like clear embossing powder, but it’s extremely thick… more like a granulated sugar than a powder. I love the effect.
Please head over to the Faber Castell Design Memory Craft blog for more details. I’ll be back over on their blog this Friday with some more inspiration using their fantastic products. I included the video below. Enjoy!

I have a couple sets of gelatos (don’t even remember which ones) and really haven’t used them because I didn’t like the effect I was getting. Maybe I should find them and try again. thanks for sharing.

Love the look of this metallic gelatos Darlene, but the little enamel hearts stole the show, WOW!! they really look like stickers!! One of the many things I love about your blog is that you teach us how to use other products and styles and techniques to be able to enjoy this craft even more. Beautiful card, the blue hues of the heart background is gorgeous!!!
Oh, and by the way, it’s not embossing floss, it’s embroidery floss, LOL!!

Absolutely Beautiful!

Very Cute !!!

Thanks so much for the Gelatos technique. I am inexperienced with them but I do love the effect when I use them. I’m also just getting to the stencil party…Love it! Your project is just beautiful. : )

Great video, great card. I forget about having the gelatos & big brush pens, and these products really turned this card into a super card. Loved the embossed hearts with the UTEE as well. Your versamark pen works a lot better than mine does! I never seem to get good coverage with the pens. TFS & producing such an awesome, easy to understand video. Enjoyed it immensely.
Margaret
Love this card! Thanks so much for taking the time to make these great videos.

Darlene – this is probably my absolute FAVE card of yours so far. I found you last fall and have enjoyed your videos every week. I love, love, love this card. I love the combination of products and that you are always extending the ways we can play with our toys. For example, the gesso underneath the gelatos so that the heart stencil could be used to remove the gelato in a controlled fashion. Love it! Thank you for sharing so kindly.

So cute!!

The only thing I want to say: WONDERFUL!!!!!!

Wow, Gorgeous!

I adore this card! Gelatos lok as if they apply like lipstick, do they stay on the card like lipstick or do they “dry”. I really want to try them after seeing this card!
Darlene DeVries
Hi Brenda, they dry almost all the way immediately. After maybe 15-20 minutes they are pretty permanent. That’s just a guess – I haven’t timed it.

Beautiful card, love all the shine. Two weeks in a row an extra video, what a nice surprise. Haven’t tried the Gelatos yet, so many products and so little time or $$.
Pat
I’ve been meaning to try using gesso on my projects…and you’ve made me want to dig out my gelatos again, too! LOVE the colors you used!

Darlene,
I think this is my all time favorite (so hard to choose among your many lovely cards) – it is stunning. I love how you use the gellatos. So much fun to watch you create this one. Thank you!
Martha
Darlene, Barb’s lovely CASE of your beautiful card led me to your blog.
Love how you used the gesso, gelatos, embossing paste & enamel!
Watching your fabulous video makes me want to go play.
Thanks for the inspiration!
Cyndi
Love the card. I have one question (apologies if I missed it in the video instructions)…did you apply gesso to the card stock you embossed with UTEE as well as the piece you applied the gelatos? Don’t know if it would make a difference in the embossing, but I really love the look and want to get it right when i try it!
Jennifer
Hi Darlene – Thanks so much for sharing this video- you gave me a bunch of fun ideas on how to use the gelatos!

Stunning card Darlene!!! I’m checking into the gelatos right now, so you’re video was timely. I have admired your other cards with gelato too. I’m just trying to decide if I’ll use them enough to justify getting them. Thank for a great video!

Hello again! Is all gesso created equal? Can I go to Michael’s with a coupon and get whatever gesso they have there?
Darlene DeVries
Robin, I’m not sure about the gesso. I used Liquitex in the video because that’s all I had. If I had to choose over again, I would probably purchase the Faber-Castell. Generally products from the same company work best together.

I saw this card on the Faber-Castell blog and just wanted to tell you how much I liked it. Your video was wonderful, not to long, perfect speed, and you show so many wonderful techniques and ideas that I had not seen or thought of. Great job!! 🙂 I love this card. Thanks for sharing.

Excellent, as always. I’m so happy you recommended gelatos. They’re my favorite new toy. One of my sons started water painting scenery lately so I ordered the kids metallic ones for him (he’s eight) and he loves them too.
Michelle
I ADORE this card, Darlene!! I’ve always liked the gelatos, but never thought to buy them myself until I saw you use that technique with the stencil. I LOVED that look. And then the METALLIC gelatos just sent me over the roof! LOVE it! Thank you so much!!!
Andrea La Vigne
Great video, Darlene! Glad you told about using the gesso with the gelatos. I never would have thought of that, but it looks like it worked great. Tfs!
