Hi All!
I am so excited about this month’s challenge because when I announced it last week, I got so many heartfelt responses. Not surprising in this community! So, to reiterate what was announced last week….
As you know, I am a supporter of Foster Kids Charity. This charity creates special packs for children who have been taken from their homes by CPS, who often have only the clothes on their back. They also create and distribute snack bags for kids who end up spending hours in the courts. Think about it – these children usually don’t have a concerned adult who is thinking about providing snacks and activities for them while they wait. Believe it or not, Foster Kids Charity distributes 1,000 of these snack bags every month to CPS in our area.
Each bag contains a snack, a drink, a little toy, and an activity of some sort. The charity also tries to include a note of encouragement. For May’s challenge, the theme will be encouragement. After taking a photo of your card, please mail it to me! I will create a snack bag for each card I receive. Don’t forget to add a message and sign your card! The snack bags go to children ages 2-12, so something cheery and fun would be perfect.
FAQ’s about this challenge:
- Can I make multiples of the same card? Yes, absolutely! They will be going to different children at different times.
- Do I have to enter the challenge to send you the card? Of course not! I’ll take as many cards as I can get.
- What kind of sentiments should I use? Sentiments such as “you are loved”, “you’re awesome”, “happy day”, and “thinking of you” are all good ones.
- Should I send both boy and girl cards? It’s best if the card can be given to either a boy or a girl. That way, the snack bags don’t have to be separated out.
- What should I write inside the card? Just a brief handwritten note of love will work great. Just put yourself in their shoes. What would you want to hear? Most importantly, please sign your name and include where you are from. It makes the message seem real when it’s signed by an actual person.
- How should I mail it? You can mail it as if I am the recipient, and I will insert it into a fresh envelope OR you can send an envelope in an envelope. I’ll take it any way you want to send it.
- Can we continue sending cards after the challenge? Of course you would ask this question – I love you all. Yes, I will be putting more effort into developing a donation program. I added a Cards Needed button in the right margin of the site to keep track of what’s current. More to be added later.
- What is the deadline for receipt of the cards? Mail them through May 31st. I will wait a week for all the cards to come in before bringing all the snack bags over to the charity.

The giveaway will be a $25 gift voucher to Simon Says Stamp, one of my favorite stores!
Even though a random winner is selected at the end of the month, the challenge is open indefinitely. Please continue to post to the challenges. Continuously seeing everyone’s new work is a win for everyone’s inspiration!
Okay, just to recap the main rules:
- Your entry must be made in the theme of encouragement.
- You can submit as many entries as you like! However, please submit only one entry per card.
- After submitting your entry, leave a comment on the entry just before yours.
- Leave more comments on entries, if you’re so inclined. 🙂
- To be eligible for a prize, you must be an active member of LiveLoveCards at the time the winner is announced and your card must have been made in the current month.

For my encouragement card, I did a combo pop-up/spinner! I used the Happy Pandas set again, because they’re just so upbeat and cute. Here is the outside of the card:
In the video, I show how to get all the hearts lined up in a circle. Can you tell they are filled with glitter? Here is the inside:
Thank you in advance for helping supply the cards for this project! I can’t wait to start receiving them. I know you will make a lot of kids very happy. Enjoy the video!

Thank you for providing this amazing opportunity! I always happy when I can use my cards to encourage others! I do have one question though. Is it OK to put a Bible verse/reference in the cards?

I think it’s a good idea, Hannah.

Darlene your card is adorable! I am excited to make an encouragement card for one of these children!

So cute! I’ve been swamped this semester — I haven’t crafted since January! But hopefully the end of the semester will give me a bit of breathing space to get some cards out to you.
I’m impressed with your red ink. It hasn’t bloomed like so many reds have. One of my reds did, but it didn’t seem to affect the color — just looked a bit unattractive. But yes, SU inks do tend to stay juicy a looooong time! I have some ink spots from 1999 that are still juicy!

Another darling card. Off to try a spinner card….

you make it look so easy! maybe Ill give it a try………………………..

Hi Darlene! This card is super cute. And it looks like I just might be able to make a spinner pop-up card by following your excellent instructions. That in itself is a real talent besides your continual creativity! I have almost completed my encouragement card to send to you but your card is just that little bit more special (smile).
Anita
Darlene, I entered both photos to show the complete card, however I don’t consider it as two entries. Only the front one should count as an entry. Thanks : ) This is your design and one of my all time favorites!
Sandra
I loved this spinner card and wanted to give it a try. I used a birthday cake since I didn’t have the cute little pandas. The card was actually easier than I thought it would be but my problem is that the cake doesn’t hang toward the front of the card when opened. It hangs sideways. What do you think I did wrong. I would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks

I mailed one of my cards to you and it came back saying the address is not known. I am comparing the address I wrote to your address above and it is exactly what you posted. Is there some trick to getting it to go through? Maybe I will try again and this time print the address. I just do not get what their problem was.
Darlene DeVries
Oh no, Lisa! I’m so sorry. I’ve been receiving lots of cards at that address, so I don’t know. Did you include the PO box number? I received one envelope without the box number and the post office wasn’t happy about that.
lovinpaper
It is exactly the same. The problem might be that the POBOX is all ran together with out any periods or spaces. I will simply put the card into another envelope and print the address and tape it down. I don’t do a lot of handwriting anymore and get in too big of a hurry to get something into the mail before the mail carrier comes. I need to send a few pieces for this week, so I will get them ready today.

Very interesting post, but guys do you think about your future? Inflation eats your savings on bank accounts. Maybe it’s time to invest in crypto. Can any bank make you 50% profit in one year? Just read Blackhatwarren’s tips.
