I love this new set I got from Technique Tuesday. Why not rocks? I love to see a stamp set that’s different. It’s so fun! The set is also great for masculine cards. The inside…

Thanks!

! I love all the Hero Arts stamp and cut sets - this time I used the thanks one after stamping and embossing the Artistic Dahlia in the corner and sponging on some distress inks (tumbled glass, peacock feathers, and mermaid lagoon). Once I added the sentiment in Hero Arts intense black I added 3 rows of arrows from a really old Verve set (Borderline). I finished it off with lots of black and white enamel accents. TFL!
Happy Flowers.JPG
Happy Flowers.JPG
Stamp set used is Avant Garden by SU. Inks used are Lawn Fawn: Freshly Cut grass, Guava, Sunflower, Mermaid, and Gina K Designs Black Onyx. I used Stitched Rectangle dies from The Stamps of Life for the main image and layering pieces, but my sentiment looked a bit off, so I added faux stitching. I am enjoying this flower set and have used it on several cards lately.

My sister loves peacocks and her business is called theproudpeacock.com if anyone wants to check it out. This was for her birthday. I used colored pencils.
Another peacock for Kathie.
Another peacock for Kathie.
This is a stamp that is so creative. I used markers I think on this one. The background paper is hand marbled. A friend of mine makes it and sells it. He also let me marble some paper but I think he made this one. He has paper that he says are mistakes and he was going to throw them away. I got them and love them!

I made my card with a retired Flourishes image (by Marcella Hawley) from a set called "Picking Wild Flowers" dated back from 2012. I stamped it onto Strathmore water color paper with Stazon black ink and colored it with Sakura Koy water colors and some SU markers. If you want more details visit my blog at http://www.swimbikerunandstamp.blogspot.com.

I got inspiration from the net for this card. First I stamped the front images, then masked them to stamp the background one. I filled the missed lines with a copic fine liner pen then I colored everything with copics. I adhered to mat with dimensional tape, then onto card base. Thanks for looking!

Squirrel with Wagon.JPG
Squirrel with Wagon.JPG
Used squirrel2stamp from The Stamps of Life. I used Prismacolor Watercolor Pencils to color everything, then came back to add a bit of sparkle with Wink of Stella and Spectrum Noir Sparkle Pens. I masked the flowers so they would hang over the wagon and the wagon top would not show.
Doggy and Kitty sticking together.JPG
Doggy and Kitty sticking together.JPG
I used a mixture of stamp sets for this card. I was thinking anniversary when I put this together. The dog is from The Stamps of Life friends4cookie and a die to cut the dog out. The umbrella is also TSOL, umbrella2stamp and umbrella die. The cloud dies are also TSOL. The kitty is from SU Pretty Kitty. The sentiment is GKD Shine On. I sponged in the background with a couple of blue inks.
Happy Birthday with Embossing.JPG
Happy Birthday with Embossing.JPG
I was working on a challenge with Stamp TV and embossing was part of it, so this card was created. I used a set called My Anchor by Gina K Designs. I masked the truck and stamped it in three Lawn Fawn ink colors. I used Jalepeno, Chili Pepper, and Blue Jay. The black is GKD Black Onyx ink. The embossing folder is Paper Studio A2 Blocks and Angles.
Pacific Point Mother's Day Card
Pacific Point Mother's Day Card
I played around with the new Oh So Eclectic stamp set from Stampin' Up! and stamped the flower in Soft Sky and Pacific Point onto glossy paper and then blended the darker color out a bit, I then used a Stampamajig to restamp the outline image again. The center is a piece of gold glimmer paper with a center colored in using a Copic marker. For the leaves, I used the same technique. I added some retired DSP to create a subtle and soft background.
Real Red Mother's Day Card
Real Red Mother's Day Card
I used the same technique as I made all of my Mother's Day cards but added a doily to this one. The sentiment is from the retired set "Wonderful Mother." I used Watermelon Wonder and Real Red for my flower.
Wisteria Wonder Mother's Day Card
Wisteria Wonder Mother's Day Card
Description same as previous two cards with a couple of changes... I used some retired DSP in Wisteria Wonder and added a doily to this card. I used Sweet Sugarplum for the first (background) color with the Wisteria Wonder as the main color.

Copic coloring on embossed flowers
Used an EF by paper studio for this card, then I decided to color the flowers and stems with copics. I adhered a sheet of thin foam packing onto the colored panel with double sided adhesive tape that does the same job as the foam sheets (thrifty!). I then adhered this onto the card base. It is actually a sympathy card but I wanted it to be cheerful. TFL!

50th Birthday Card
50th Birthday Card
I made this card for my husband's 50th birthday and he loved it! He loves to go fishing so I thought it was perfect! I cut an A2 size card first then cut the arms using a circle punch and neck, then added eyelits to tie the front together and used a few pieces from the SU Hodgepodge Hardware on the pockets. The fish are 3D stickers and the feathers I had in my stash. Not sure where I got the background paper full of fish, but it was perfect for the vest!
Lunch Anyone?
Lunch Anyone?
The background checkered design was made by inking up my striped embossing folder in red and the turning it and running it through again to get the plaid look, along with SU punches to make the burger. The fries were run through my crimper and the pickle is the SU Word Window punch cut in half and I stamped with SU's itty bitty background stamp.
Tool Box Father's Day Card
Tool Box Father's Day Card
I made this card for a friend of mine who is a carpenter. I made an A2 size card first then cut the oval for the handle and added the front piece for the drawer. I stamped the background with SU Hardwood background stamp. The tools are a die set cut out of silver foil paper.

Happy Mail Owl
Happy Mail Owl
I made this as part of Jennifer McGuire's "Share Handmade Kindness" campaign, to give to our postal carrier. I added the envelope in the owl's beak by stamping & cutting it out, then cutting a slit around the beak and slipping the envelope in. I left it in our mailbox for the postman one day, but didn't get to see his reaction. But, the next day, he left a handwritten note on the envelope of the mail piece he delivered, that he liked it!

Ladybug Birthday
Ladybug Birthday
From the current catalog, I used the hostess set called "Love You Lots" (ladybugs), "Touches of Texture" (dots), "Birthday Bright" from the Occasions Catalog (sentiment), and a VERY old set called "Border Builders"(checkerboard pattern). I colored the ladybugs with Copics, and finished them with clear Wink of Stella. I embossed the sentiment in gold. "Happy Birthday" is stamped on the inside from the Birthday Bright set. I made this card for my sister for her birthday. We have started a tradition. She is not a stamper (despite my best efforts), so I have started making her a card with a coordinating envelope, writing on a Post-It for the inside message, and the card becomes part of her gift to reuse. She loves it!
When Pigs Fly
When Pigs Fly
I used the new stamp set from the upcoming SU catalog, This Little Piggy. I love this set and the fact that it was another set that I could color with Copics! I was inspired by Darlene's card from the Seamus Sheep set she used in a card video. I adapted the idea for this set, but I made a little mistake, and it's pretty noticeable. For my background piece that I sponged on with SU inks, I used SU paper, forgetting that I would need to color part of my pig with Copics. You can see what a difference it makes using Neenah paper versus SU paper.

Balloon journey
I made this card for an "unfinished card swap", which is where someone sends you a few elements and you create a completed card using those elements. I was sent the large hot air balloon diecut and a cloud diecut. I used the cloud diecut as a stencil to create the gray cloudy sky background. I stamped more balloon images in light silver, then overstamped some tree images to give the look of a forest.
Indigo Blu Kibble Kits
Indigo Blu Kibble Kits
I had fun making this card today. I loved the way it turned out but the photograph doesn't do it justice. All Indigo Blu stamp sets are special and this is one of my favourites. And of course I had to include a Chocolate Point Siamese (bottom right) to represent my kitty! The background stamp was clear heat embossed first with Versafine Black ink before the cats were coloured with Zig Clean Clear Markers. The Altenew Love Labels sentiment selected seemed especially appropriate since there are a bunch of cats on this card. The sentiment was stamped in Stampin Up Early Expresso ink, then covered with Versamark so it could be clear heat embossed. Two Mama Elephant dies were used for the card-front (the bottom was in chocolate card-stock with a scalloped edge and the top cat card-front was a stitched edge). After these two pieces were glued together, they were mounted onto a Hero Arts Black notecard.
Indigo Blu Kibble Kits #2
Indigo Blu Kibble Kits #2
Because a friend is sick and is also a fellow cat lover, I decided to make another cat card. This time I was inspired by the colours in Darlene's latest Pan Pastel card. But instead of using that medium, I used spiced marmalade, fossilised amber, and worn lipstick Distress Oxide Ink applied softly with Clarity Stencil brushes. The effect gave the card a totally different look to the first card I submitted yesterday.

One of my second cousins graduated from high school this month. He is really into swimming & fishing, but I didn't have any appropriate (masculine) stamps for those activities. Liquid applique and pastels
Liquid applique and pastels
I used liquid applique for the wool. It arrived in the mail yesterday and I'd never used it before. Also this stamp set came yesterday from SSS and it's from clearly besotted. This card is a case from Cindy, the frenzied stamper. Hope you like it. I used SU! pastels for the cloudy sky.
My Meerkat Card
My Meerkat Card
The meerkat is one of my favourite critters. They are so expressive and elegant. But the stamp sets on the market make them look ridiculous. Then I came across this unmounted stamp on Ebay that was drawn by a talented artist. This is my idea of a meerkat! And the card is going to a girlfriend who has worked in a museum as a guide for many years, knows lots about meerkats, and will hopefully like this one. The card was meant to be striking in its simplify to show off the meerkat and I used coloured pencils to give it a sketched look.
Russian Babushka Nesting Dolls
Russian Babushka Nesting Dolls
Darlene started off the May Challenge with a card that reminded me of Russian Babushka Nesting Dolls. So I decided to make a card using them. This stamp was also unmounted and bought on EBay for only a few dollars. But it stamps well and looks more like these dolls than anything else I've seen on the market including the retired Stampin Up set. This was stamped in Versafine and clear heat embossed before applying coloured pencils.
A Mermaid's Welcome
A Mermaid's Welcome
I attended a baby shower with a mermaid theme. I had looked on Pinterest to try to see what options I had since I don't own any mermaid stamps. I turned to punch art. I had the idea to use the SU dress-up framelits for the body, the small oval punch for the head, the tail from the fox punch for the hair, and the sequins for the scales. The tail was made from the large oval punch and the build a blossom punch. I was originally going to punch out several small circles or flowers and layer them by glueing them onto the tail, but had the idea for the sequins, and I think it worked out nicely. I left them attached to the string to make it easy to manage. Single/loose ones were a bit harder to get to stay in place. I wish I would've used the softer Pistachio Pudding for my green background since it was for a baby, but overall I was happy with the way this turned out using a lot of retired products from SU.

Graduation Shaker Card
Graduation Shaker Card
A friend of ours commissioned me to make a card for a girl she knows who just graduated from our local high school. The only 2 requirements were that she wanted me to make a shaker card, & tie it in to the girl's high school drill team activities. The school colors are blue & gold, hence the color scheme. I really love how this turned out!
Dragon Congrats
Dragon Congrats
Another commissioned graduation card. The graduate in this case is really into dragons, so our friend told me I needed to incorporate a dragon somehow. The heat-embossed letters didn't come out very smoothly, which I'd expected because of past experience with the Zing embossing powder. But I think it adds to the overall feel. I got the dragon from a free coloring-page site online, and colored it with Tombow markers.
Sympathy Card
Sympathy Card
I'd like to share this card that I made last night. A dear old man suddenly passed away yesterday and this is for his wife who is our Aged Care client. I used spellbinders nestabilities for the floral oval, (adhered it to card base with dimensional tape) Tim Holtz garden flowers colored with zig markers, fussy cut and adhered with dimensionals. SU! fabulous florets for the leaves, distress inks for the inside oval, and a new paper from a 6x6 Echo park which arrived in the mail 2 days ago. Thanks for looking!

Prayers to You and Your Family
Prayers to You and Your Family
I don't have any real need for a sympathy card currently, which is probably a good time to make one. I used Hero Arts' "Prayers" stamp and cut set for the greeting, and Lawn Fawn's "Stitched Leaves" & "Small Stitched Oval" dies for the background. I took my inspiration from a lesson in Online Card Classes' "Stretch Your Dies" class (available as a self-paced class now). I inked my "mat" (actually around the front of my card base) with Stormy Sky & Bundled Sage Distress inks, to tie in to the colors in the watercolored leaves & add a bit more interest than just a "flat" color mat.

When I first saw this card, I thought it reminded me of those Russian Babushka nesting dolls. I wonder if there’s a stamp set like that! I agree that these rocks are so different and clever. It’s a great card that really stands out. And it also is a little bit zany, which I especially find appealing.

Thanks. I should’ve figured out that Stampin Up would’ve thought of them for stamps! But, unfortunately this retired stamp set is not for sale anywhere online, not even on Ebay!

Ok, when I first saw this card I thought “Darlene has taken the theme just a bit too far.” You see I though it was toes. Now I know they are crazy looking toes but in the summer you see all types of toes. But now I know they are rocks but they still look like toes to me. LOL

LOL Gail! So glad I left the sentiment on the inside, leaving the recipient to wonder.

I thought you used real rocks, not that this was a stamp on a card. How cool that it’s a stamp. I see everybody is using punny cards and on Jeopardy tonight they had a pun category that reminded me of the stamps everyone is creating. I’m going to upload more cards! I uploaded one already but I have to take a photo with the camera on my computer until I get my scanner fixed.

Hi Darlene, please excuse and ignore the 3 missing thumbnails. That was just my sausage fingers doing this on my phone instead of computer. I know you take the time to email when that stuff happens. 🙂
Have a nice memorial day weekend.

What a beautiful card! I have a similar stamp from Altenew and you inspire me to dig it out and use it! I love the dimension you get using those multi-layered stamps!
