As I mentioned in the heads up post last week, I haven’t been getting very many cards for the foster kids, so this month’s theme is all about the kids: you’re awesome, you’re great, thinking of you, hello, hang in there, etc. If you don’t usually make cards for kids, think rainbows, sunny skies, cute animals, monsters, robots, boats, cars, cupcakes… it could pretty much be anything – even just plain old stripes. The thought of the card is what counts.
I would love to have you create a card for the challenge and also mail it to me for donating. Mailing the card to me is optional – you can still enter the challenge by just uploading a photo of your card. I will do a highlight video of some of the cards received after the challenge is over. I usually separate the cards into boy/girl and baby/elementary/tween, so feel free to make it for any age (2-12) or gender. If you would like to mail your card(s), please SIGN THE CARD (a brief encouraging message or stamp, along with your first name and location) and include an envelope. Send to:

Here is a close-up of the gopher and his glossy-accent glasses:
The glasses are probably my favorite thing about the set – it just makes the gopher unique and special. In fact, I think a sentiment along those lines would work great with this gopher.
If you need more inspiration, you can check out the “young” category in the Gallery by Style.
This stamp is from the Quite a Pear set from SSS. I put the frog on a wobble spring so it moves.
Science is fun
Colored embossing powders and sponged stampin up ink.
Spinner card
Spinning card with Paper Smooches Chubby Chums. The key to making it spin vs slide is to use 2 pennies. One attached directly to the image, then a round foam piece, then another penny attached to the foam piece. The extra weight on top is what makes it spin. Made me crazy because I had to have it spin to fit the sentiment. LOL!
Monsterrific Twist & Pop
SU Monstermaniacs and Playful Backgrounds stamp sets. Colors rich razzleberry, basic black, and Neenah white. Picture shows front of card and inside design when you pop it open. Copics coloring.

The pattern papers are from a discontinued line from Lili of the Valley.

Pigs in windows
I used a card from Darlene as my inspiration for this card. She used the whole herd stamp set and had different animals in the Windows, but I used all pigs from the MFT sow much cuteness set. I thought any kid would get a kick out of these funny pigs! And interactive cards are always a hit.

Lots of owls in bright colors! The owl stamp is from Technique Tuesday and the sentiment from Paper Smooches. I wrote a couple of jokes from the book that Darlene used for her daughter's lunch. I thought the kids could have a few laughs while waiting.

These Paper Smooches stamps always bring a smile to my face and thought the kids would like them. I found my googly eyes, so they were added. I wrote jokes on the inside.

Everyone loves french fries, so this is a card for all those people! I used the Happy Meal stamp set and colored it with Stampin Up markers.
Silly Monster Wobbler!
I used the Silly Monsters stamp set and dies and put him on a wobbler for even more fun! I used the Eery Eyes and Stampin Up designer series paper. The green dots are made with a pearl pen.
Thank you
Love this All Cars stamp set from Gerda Steiner Designs
Happy birthday
Made this for my niece's 12th birthday. From the All Cats stamp set from Gerda Steiner Designs.
You Are Amazing PopNTwist Card
I was creating a card for someone a while ago and decided I didn't like the colors I had used. So the unfinished card sat there for a couple of months. When this challenge came up, I knew that it would be a great way to turn the card into something that perhaps a child would enjoy.
BeeYouTiful
I saw someone had made a shaker card with insects underneath of a magnifying glass, and this was my inspiration. I colored the card with Copics and placed the bee under a "magnifying glass" cut from silver foil paper. I then applied Crystal Effects on top to create the "glass." My initial trial was not a success, as I had used a black Copic marker to color the edges of the bee to hide imperfect fussy cutting. This didn't work, and the Copic ink bled with the Crystal Effects. I am sending the card anyway, as I figured that maybe a child wouldn't care so much!
You're Cool Popsicle Card
Inspired by one of our community members, I used the glitter glass bead gel and Distress inks to create these sparkly popsicles. I tried to colormatch some Copic markers to color the border and also to stamp sprinkles in the background. I had fun working with the glass bead gel!
Bugs and kisses
fun shaker card for kids with a jar of "bugs"
Alligator Card for young and old
This alligator is one of my favourites. He is a perfect card for anyone but especially for children. The alligator stamp is from Carabelle and I coloured him with Prismacolor pencils. This is a sturdy one-layer card with Stampin Up extra heavy Whisper White cardstock. I'm sending it to Darlene for one of the Foster Kids. I hope he brightens up some child's day!
Blast off
Found this "new" Recollection Robot stamp set at a thrift store and had a difficult time stamping with it. Thank goodness for the MISTI. I used Tombow Dual Brush Markers for the first time. Had a difficult time blending but still worth putting them together on a card. I probably did not use the correct paper. 🙂

Charlene Thompson-Cat Card
Stampendous Cat stamp/die cuts and Silhouette cut out (leaves). I water colored cat with SU Markers and Aqua Pen.
Love you much by Anita
SU! kids at play. Stamped images, colored with copics, fussy cut. Adhered with dimensionals. Sponged clouds and grass. Left border is SU! Chalk lines. My clouds were pathetic, hence the need to cover up with cloud die cuts! this card almost ended up in the garbage bin! I added wink of stella on the balloons and turned the boy's little fingers up to hold the strings.
Oh my goodness this is cute as, instant smiles at my house when we saw this card.
I agree Darlene, the glasses add a little somethin somethin!!!
Any child would be tickled pink to get this and feel very special indeed. I hope we all get on board with this cause and you get plenty of cards to contribute..

His buck tooth grin made me smile and chuckle. Super Cute!! Love the glasses. I wore glasses as a kid, my children do, and it’s nice to have a little critter wear them too. That would have made me feel a little special as a kid.
