LiveLoveCards One Year Birthday with BIG giveaways!!

Balloon Bunny

What an exciting day!

I can’t believe it has been a whole year with this wonderful community. Thank you, thank you, thank you to all the members who have made this last year so awesome!

Oh my, there are a lot of things to announce today! Because I’m kinda OCD about being organized, here is a list of everything in this post. Read it top-to-bottom or just click the titles to skip to your favorite parts…

What’s a celebration without gifts?! I have gift vouchers to two of my favorite stores!

$50 to SimonSaysStamp $50 to Ellen Hutson!

The best part is that all members are automatically eligible. You don’t even have to leave a comment! Two member names will be randomly selected on January 15th. Cha-ching!

Today’s Card Video

As soon as I saw this Balloon Builders set, I knew I had to get it. It’s so different! I decided to stamp a bunch of balloon animals. I seriously spent hours coming up with them, and I could have spent hours more. If you do a Google search for balloon animals, there are tons of ideas. Here’s a little version of the instructions sheet. Click it for a high resolution version:
Balloon Animals

I created the side panels using the It’s Wild background stamp and some clear embossing powder. Enjoy the video!

Video Series: One Flower, Eight Ways

In the member survey I posted last week, I had quite a few people say they would like to see more product comparisons and product reviews (I’ll actually have more detail on the survey results tomorrow). I thought this type of video series would be a fun way to compare different coloring mediums. I will be using this flower from the Altenew Persian Motifs set in all eight videos:

One Flower, Eight Ways

I’ll be using these 8 mediums: Dry Inktense Pencils, Wet Inktense Pencils, Copic Markers, Distress Markers, Peerless Watercolors, Zig Waterbrush Pens, Gansai Tambi Watercolors, and Gelatos.

Don’t worry, these videos will not replace the twice-weekly card videos – they are extra. The videos will be real-time coloring, so a little different than my typical card videos. I’m looking forward to getting your feedback!

    Happy Birthday!!!
Thank you for all the inspiration during this past year. I am looking foreward to all your new ideas I especially like your project using the same stamp with different colororing techniques.
I am a little bit frustrated, because I don’t have the possibility to get Stampin’ up products. I try to follow the idea with other stamps and inks.
To finish a word of warning!: I broke the wire of my Fiskars cutter trying to trim a double layer of cardstock! I now use mostly a craftknife and a quilting ruler.

    • wrote on January 8th, 2016 at 9:26 am

      Darlene DeVries

Hi Barbara. Well, the wire in my trimmer is now all jagged, so it leans left and right. It’s kind of useless now. Bummer.

        Barbara Gertrud

Sorry that my warning came too late.there exists a Really big and sturdy Fiskars cutter, that folds for storing,( is this english?) but it is quite expensive.
        Good night for today.
I shall be looking foreward to the next flower-coloring.

Congrats, Darlene, on your one year anniversary!! I’m too new to have made the journey with all of you but I know a bit about what goes into creating a website and a community. And if what I see around me happened within the past year you’ve accomplished more than most site builders ever do! I’m so impressed by the existing features and tie-ins and look forward to your adding more as the site matures. I haven’t explored all the options yet, but I will and I look forward to hanging around for a long time. You’re quite an amazing woman! Best of luck always!

They do some pretty amazing things with cards (there are two monthly clubs and guest artists) and paper-crafting projects. They aren’t just a scrapbooking club. Their monthly blog hop is awesome and a great source of ideas.

What a cute card! I don’t remember that background stamp @ SU! but I’m not really into wild animal prints so I probably wasn’t really paying attention. I see you have not lost your touch freehanding those line borders. I’ve been practicing!! hehe Thanks for sharing, Darlene. =)
