Hi All!
These hedgehogs are just so adorable! When I saw the “Let’s Roll” sentiment, I decided to make a penny slider card. They are actually quite easy to make, and so fun for the recipient to interact with. Here are a couple of rolling action shots:
There are two pennies that weigh down the hedgehog and allow it to roll across the slot I cut into the cardstock. Here is a close-up of the penny sandwich:
I added one of the other sentiments from the set to the inside:
One note… I mentioned that I used 3 shades of Simon Says Stamp green cardstock for the hills. In fact, one of those cardstocks is Stampin’ Up! Garden Green. It got mixed up in my files! Sorry about that.
Today is the last day to submit your entry to the Sparkle and Shine Challenge. A random winner will be selected and announced tomorrow from all entries. Tomorrow will also be the official start to October’s Challenge. I can’t believe it’s October already!!
Enjoy the video. 🙂

Oh Darlene, this little critters are so adorable, love, love this interactive card!!! I remember making a couple of them some time ago using the SU Word Window Punch, this cards are always so much fun to make and receive. Thank you for the inspiration, I think I will go and make one.
Darlene DeVries
Oh! I forgot to mention that you can make the slot with the SU Word Window punch. When I made the card, I was thinking that they retired it, but I was wrong. It’s the perfect size. 🙂 Thank you for pointing that out Maria!
swimbikerunat60
Well, I hope they do not retire this punch, it’s really fabulous for those little punched out sentiments. I love how it looks with the Modern Label punch, this tools are awesome.

Talk about making someone smile…maybe even a belly laugh. The card is sure to get that reaction. Thanks for the penny rolling tutorial. It’s going to come in handy.

I love it. I haven’t tried sliders yet
Almadirpaul
What a coincidence! I just made a pinwheel slider card today before I watched your video. I love interactive cards.

Just relaxing after tromping around another medieval village today and up popped your latest card. I have plenty of pennies but never have done a slider card because nothing took my fancy – not until now! Just loved the cute little hedgehogs so much I bought the stamp online just now and hopefully it will be waiting for me when I get back to Oz. Thanks again for coming up with such an adorable slider card. Can hardly wait to do one!!

I just made one of these with Tim Holtz Bird Crazy stamp set…hilarious! Thanks Darlene.
Connie
What’s great idea! I’ll try that too after the hedgehogs card!
Patty Beers
Do us the bird roll using a penny. Not too big for the penny? I’m going to have to try that.
Patty Beers
That word should be does?
Glenismaree
I was enthralled with your demonstration of this card. Amazing!!! I just have to give some thought to replace your pennies and have a go at this. Thanks Darlene
Connie
Australian 10 cent coins will work too, just not quite as fat as a penny!

Adorable!!!

Yet another card I will be adding to my favorites!
Suzanne
How cute is that!!

My first attempt I used SU dimensionals. It didn’t roll very well so I tried punching out on foam tape and it worked better. My punch was smaller though. I’m still not happy with the way it rolls. I guess I will keep trying since I love it. So cute.
Darlene DeVries
Hi Patty. The trick with getting the SU dimensional to roll is tp shake the card back and forth (so the penny object moves from one side to the other) for 30 seconds to a minute. It helps to shape the dimensional so that it’s less “edgey”, if that makes sense.
Patty Beers
Makes sense. I will try that. Thanks
