Hi All!
I have yet another card for the August Monochromatic Challenge. This challenge is actually not that hard – please enter if you haven’t already! I layered the new Leafy Frame die and shaded it with some Copic markers.
Here is a close-up of the coloring. As you can see, it’s very imprecise:
Enjoy the video!

I really loved the card in its completion. But when you started colouring it, I thought I wasn’t going to like the effect. It seemed quite messy looking, as you said. But, it did fade and once you covered the entire card and adhered it to the white background, it looked terrific. Besides using this new SSS die, which is beautiful, you could also use this same technique on similar dies that frame your message.

Love it, Darlene. Those intricate dies can be tricky. But not for you!

Wow! When I first saw the photo of the card, I thought maybe you used a stencil to get the more dimensional coloring. I knew SSS made a die with this design, but I just thought maybe they had a stencil as well. Anyway, I love the look that the coloring gives. I was wondering if any glue got on the front of the green & resisted the marker? I noticed what seemed like lighter spots where you had colored. Does dried glue resist alcohol markers? I don’t use these markers, but I am curious now. I know water-based markers will be repelled by dried glue. But enough about that. Thank you so much for sharing this, Darlene! I hope y’all are having a wonderful week. Take care! 🐱 ~ Andrea

Andrea, you always give me such good feedback and so I am going to try to do the same for you. I also noticed that some of the Copic marker resisted the paper and felt this would have been from a little glue seeping through and resisting the Copic markers. This has happened to me before and so I presume it would’ve happened to Darlene as well. It’s easy to occur. Along with you, I’ll be interested to read her feedback.

Hi Andrea. Yes, you are observant! I was a little sloppy with my glue and some of it got on the front of the die cut. So, the glue protected the cardstock underneath from the Copic marker. I wasn’t even sure anyone would notice so I didn’t mention it. 🙂

That nifty new iPhone camera shows up everything and some of us are eagle eyes – ha! ha!

The Coptic markers really make this card pop! Wow! What an effect and well worth the time involved. I also like how you off set the black card stock behind the green. So much more depth! Great job, Darlene. Thanks so much! I’m going to try this.

Love the shadow effect on this card Darlene, the addition of the green Copic marker really made the leaves look more realistic.
Fabulous card, thank you for sharing.
