June Challenge: Large Sentiments! (and May winner!)

June Challenge

Note: I made two posts today! CLICK HERE to see my favorites in the Stampin’ Up! 2016-17 Catalog released today.

Hi All!

First, I want to say how lucky I am to be part of this wonderful community. I am humbled by the number of encouragement cards I received during the May challenge. I have a lot of work ahead of me creating those snack bags I’m happy to say!! Since the challenge just ended yesterday, I’ll be waiting and collecting cards for the next week before I create the bags. I’ll report back on the final statistics later. I am so thankful for the generous outpouring.

Of course, the kids are the real winners of the May challenge. But, we’ll still have a random winner here for the Simon Says Stamp gift voucher. I’ll talk about May’s poll regarding picking challenge winners in another post, as I don’t want to make this longer than it already is. 🙂 The winner is entry #22, Patty B. Congrats Patty! I emailed you.

Onto the June challenge! The theme is LARGE sentiments. It could be a stamp, a die, a stencil, etc. it can be a delicate balance to incorporate a big sentiment. If it’s sophisticated with a pattern, you’ll want to downplay the background. If it’s just plain, then you’ll want to jazz up your background.

The last day to submit your entry is Thursday, June 30th, 11:59pm CT. One random winner will be selected from all entries and announced on Friday, July 1st.

SimonSaysStamp Gift Voucher
The giveaway will be a $25 gift voucher to Simon Says Stamp, one of my favorite stores!

Even though a random winner is selected at the end of the month, the challenge is open indefinitely. Please continue to post to the challenges. Continuously seeing everyone’s new work is a win for everyone’s inspiration!

Okay, just to recap the main rules:

  • Your entry must incorporate a large sentiment.
  • You can submit as many entries as you like! However, please submit only one entry per card.
  • After submitting your entry, leave a comment on the entry just before yours.
  • Leave more comments on entries, if you’re so inclined. 🙂
  • To be eligible for a prize, you must be an active member of LiveLoveCards at the time the winner is announced and your card must have been made in the current month.

Are you ready to enter? CLICK HERE!

For my card today, I did a fancy background and a plain sentiment.

Big Thanks

I used the Simon Says Stamp Artful Flowers set, which is one of my favorites for coloring. I have used it on THIS CARD and THIS CARD.

You can get some inspiration by clicking the “Large Sentiments” tab in the Gallery by Style.

Enjoy the video. I look forward to seeing your creations!

Stunning for sure! Another stamp set to add to the wish list. LOL I could see trimming it down and adding the Hero Arts black notecard also like the May 27th card. Soooooo awesome Darlene!

Oh my gosh Darlene, you make water color washes look so stunning and easy to do!!!
I guess the trick is to have your paper really wet, eh?
Now, I saw somewhere that to prevent your water color paper to warp, you should tape it to a clip board with painter’s tape and that way, you can wet it really good and it will prevent it from getting warped.
Anyway, I love your card, such vibrant colors and the sentiment really pops against that fabulous pinkish color in the background.
Thank you for another fantastic video.
    Big hugs,
    Maria Rodriguez.

Beautiful card! And a really cute stamp set. Unfortunately I don’t have any large sentiments but maybe I could find someone who does and borrow theirs ?

Love that card and love Zig markers. I like the idea of taking the colour across the card. Darlene you alway make it look so easy. As a matter of fact I ordered, this morning, a pack of 36 Zig markers. I can’t wait for them to arrive.

I don’t have a flickr account to comment so I’m leaving it here. Hannah Means – I love the soft background against your bold sentiment!

This is my second submission to the Challenges page. Thanks, Darlene. Your challenges give me an idea when I am not feeling inspired. I apologize that both my photos have displayed upside down on your page. It doesn’t look like that when I am posting it. I will try to do better next time. ( I am no. 44). Do you know why this keeps happening? I am guessing that I need to turn my iPad 90 degrees next time I take a photo.

Hmmm – I’m not sure why it’s doing that. You don’t have a URL associated with it, which is odd because it’s required. How did you do that? 🙂
