July Challenge Results!

Hi All!

Thank you to everyone who participated in the July Favorite Color Combos Challenge! I encourage you to check out the entries when you have some time.

This month’s random winner of the Simon Says Stamp $25 gift voucher is entry #8 by Barb H. I’m highlighting another card by Barb below, but I like this one too – blue and tan. Congrats Barb!

Onto the highlights…

There were several cards that used blue and green – I love this combo! I especially loved this one by Annie A.:

Annie A.

I love the pattern she created, and I also love how she incorporated the same colored cardstock. Notice how the pattern turns white on the cardstock – such a great detail!

Next is this pink, green, and turquoise combo by Caly:

I love Caly’s clean style. The balance of color with the white is awesome, and her shades of each color are the same degree of brightness – I’m not sure what the technical term is – maybe saturation? I don’t know – all I know is that it looks good!

Another combo I really liked is this one by Barb H.:

I’m not sure I’ve used pink, orange and green together yet – I’ll have to add it to my list! Orange and green aren’t my favorite colors, but when you add pink, they suddenly are. 🙂

Finally, there were quite a few people who used yellow and gray together – I never would have put those two together in my head, but it’s a very soothing combination. Here are a couple… the first is by Alma and the second is by Maggi:

Thanks again to everyone who submitted a card. I love seeing your creations. I’ll be back soon with the launch of the August Monochromatic Challenge. Hope you have a great day!

Congratulations Barb H. Know you’ll have a good time selecting your new goodies. I also like gray and yellow as a colour combination. Ever since I had a gray and yellow dress when I was about 6 years old I’ve loved those two colours together. That’s why I selected them for this challenge. I agree that certain shades of yellow with gray can be soothing, Darlene, but I never thought of it in this way before.

Darlene, I watched the new craft show, Making It, this morning and thought of you. I remember when you were on the Michaels craft show. You did so well. Did you win? I don’t remember.
Anyway, as I was watching it I thought you would be an excellent judge on the show. You see things on our cards I don’t even notice. I always learn something from your review of our cards as well as your posts. Thank you for everything you do for us.

Hi Cheryl. Thank you for your kind words! I’ve never even heard of this show! I looked it up and I need to watch it. Gosh, that Michael’s competition was so long ago – I can’t believe you remember it! Yes, I won it, and they took my picture with a sash like they wear in the beauty pageants, lol! My husband has this picture show up on his phone when I call him. 🙂

Congrats Barb! I must say I agree with Cheryl – how you can see techniques other used that some of us don’t notice until you highlight it. Also, what’s this about Michael’s??? Do tell!

Hi Carol. A long time ago I participated in a competition for Michael’s that aired on the internet. At the beginning of the show, three of us were given a theme to craft something about. We were allowed a small budget to spend at Michaels but had a limited time in the store – maybe 10-15 minutes? And then we had 90 minutes to come up with something in front of the judges. Being a major planner, it was one of the most stressful things I’ve ever done!!

Yup, that would be stressful! Thanks for the tell all! 😎
