Welcome to the July Challenge! This month we are focusing on your favorite color combinations. Help to create a gallery of inspiration for people who are having a creative color block! I seriously need this gallery as well – sometimes I just get stuck. Feel free to submit multiple cards with different combos.
The last day to submit your entry is Tuesday, July 31st, 11:59pm CT. One random winner will be selected from all entries and announced on Wednesday, August 1st.

One of my very favorite combinations is pink, orange, and red, with a black highlight thrown in. Here is my card:
I find that leaving a lot of white makes your colors stand out even more. I used the new Debra die by Simon Says Stamp to create a background impression. The flower is the center part of the Fancy Flower stamp I used on this card.

This is another Darlene distinctive card. And I love it, as usual. Being a perfectionist too, I would have done just as you did and ripped off the flower to reposition it. You did a good job though and you wouldn’t have been satisfied otherwise. You said that you smeared a little of the watercolour but I simply could not tell where you had done this. After staring at the flower, the only place where I could see that you may have smeared it just a little would be the orange flower at the 8 o’clock position. You must tell me if I am right. If I am though, I doubt most people would see this. I have the irritating ability (at least to me) of seeing every imperfection everywhere. My husband was painting a picnic bench outside recently and I could see a tiny drop of paint on the concrete from about 10 feet away. That time it worked out well though because he could have stepped in the paint and made a real mess. So we perfectionists come in handy sometimes too. Ha! Ha!

Great challenge, Darlene! I never could think of any “bottom-heavy” designs for last month’s challenge, so didn’t enter. Of course, the day after the challenge officially “ended,” I made a card with a bottom-heavy design–without even really thinking about that! 😛 I think I can come up with at least a couple color combos for this challenge, though! 😺 I love how your card came out! A product I would recommend to you for removing things you’ve adhered is Un-Du. It works well on dry adhesive, though I don’t think it would loosen liquid glue. I just replaced the bottle I had for several years, though it still had a little in it, because the liquid had started leaving a residue. It doesn’t smell all that great (kind of makes me think of lighter fluid, but not quite so potent), but it WORKS! And since you only need a little, the smell isn’t too too bad. Best part is, after it evaporates/dries, the adhesive becomes sticky again. I know Hobby Lobby sells it, so you could use their 40% off coupon and save some $$$! Anyway, just thought you might be interested. Thank you for sharing your gorgeous card–love that color combo, as it seems perfect for summer! 😺 ~ Andrea

Andrea, does the smell go away before sending the card to someone?

Yes, it does! On my old bottle (the one I disposed of), you could still smell it if you knew to and held it close to your nose. But I think that’s just because of how old it was. I understand it was unavailable for a time, so I don’t know if they reformulated it or what. Anyway, the smell seems to disappear when the liquid evaporates. 😺 ~ Andrea

Well as long as you don’t send a stinky card, it would be a good idea. But if the smell stays around, it doesn’t sound so good. I am a bit confused though about how you use Undo after you’ve stuck down your cardstock. Do you spray it on the back? I’d really appreciate you explaining. Thanks again for your help!

Connie, Un-Du is in kind of a large (4 ounce) dropper bottle. It has a somewhat-dull plastic scraper attachment on the top, that is supposed to scrape adhesive labels & stuff off your paper, though I’ve gotten mixed results with that. You just squeeze a few drops out onto the paper/label/whatever that you want to “un-adhere.” I’m not sure how it works from a chemical standpoint, but it temporarily removes the stickiness, allowing you to pull the stuck pieces apart. After it evaporates, the stickiness returns to the adhesive. I hope that makes sense! You can read a little more, see a picture, and read reviews here: https://www.scrapbook.com/store/ud-00110.html. Like I said, it won’t work if you’ve used liquid adhesive/glue, but for tape runner, foam tape, etc., it works like a charm! Hope that answers your question. 😺 ~ Andrea
