Hi All!
I want to thank you so much for all the comments and well wishes you left yesterday for Courtney and me. They really brightened my day. I also appreciated many of the stories you shared with me via comments and email. I knew there had to be many other members dealing with sick children, relatives, friends, and even treasured pets. You are all in my thoughts. I hope to respond to you soon. Courtney seemed much better yesterday. She only spiked to 104 once, and spent most of the day around 100. It’s 4am right now and she’s back up to 104. We shall see what today brings. Thank you for your prayers – they mean so much.
Now, onto the card…
As I shared in my Stampin’ Up! post a couple of weeks ago, I completely love the Sprinkles of Life set. You can make cupcakes, clouds, or ice cream cones with this set. I thought, why not have clouds turn into cupcakes with a pull tab? I also love the sentiments in this set.
Usually when I create an interactive card, I first create a prototype out of printer paper so I don’t waste good craft supplies trying to figure out the measurements and folds. That’s how I know where to put things, in case you thought I actually just come up with these numbers off the top of my head! 🙂
Here is a close-up of the silver-lined clouds:
In case you missed them, here are all the measurements. Both panels began as 4.25″ x 5.5″ pieces of cardstock:
By the way, I thought my hole punch was 1/16″, but it’s actually 1/8″. Sorry about that!
One more interesting note… I showed this to both of my daughters and neither of them pulled the tab without being told! That kind of surprised me, so I think I will add the word “pull” on the tab.
If you have any questions or if I missed anything, leave a comment below and I will answer. Enjoy!

This card is superb! Even though I’d never have the patience to make one myself, I really think it is brilliantly crafted. You are very clever.

great card, Darlene! So creative. Is the Lawn Fawn Twine better quality/thicker than SU’s or other brands? Just curious…I was thinking about getting some.
Darlene DeVries
Hi Caly. I only have this one spool of Lawn Fawn and I’ll say it’s definitely the thickest I have. Almost like the thickness of hemp twine. I noticed it tends to unravel a bit more, but that could be because of the silver inside. I like the SU twine and use it a lot. I think my favorite is the Doodlebug twine. It’s a little heavier than SU and not as heavy as the Lawn Fawn. I’ve used lots of different colors and they all work great.

Thanks!!

Darlene, you are so stinkin’ clever! Where did you come up with this idea??? I love it! Thanks so much for sharing!! =)
Darlene DeVries
It’s the angels I think. 🙂

You go girl!! There would be no way in this world I could do what you just did. But then, I am not as gifted as most.
I do hope your daughter soon begins to heal. What a scare you had!
Diana
Darling card. So clever! I hope your daughter gets over this nasty episode. thinking of you.

Fabulous card, as inventive as ever Darlene, thank you for sharing. I had to smile in your text above when you said you did a prototype out of normal paper. I was going to ask you exactly that – what is your process for creating a card? I have watched your video on the creative process but your cards are utter perfection – if you HAD created them off the top of your head I wouldn’t have been at all surprised 🙂 Thanks again Darlene, a lovely project for me to work on at some point.

Love this card…and this stamp set! I think if I saw the string…I would pull it (without being told) but I think you are right, a “Pull Here” hint might help! Hope Courtney feels better soon!
Carol B
Sending hugs and prayers to you and Epic Courtney, hope that everything will get better soon. Love the card and pull tab idea, very creative as always.

Sending get well wishes for Courtney, and hang in there to her tired Mom! I just got my Sprinkles stamp set, so your card is so timely. Darlene, your video instructions are perfect to help us all succeed. Thank you for sharing your creativity and blog with such sincerely and grace.
Darlene DeVries
Cynthia, that is so sweet of you to say. Thank you. 🙂

Adorable card…what fun. Think the “pull” word is a good idea. Hope Courtney feels better very soon.
Whimsical Creations
So sophisticated, so over my head. I want to buy the card. I want you to make me one, I’ll buy it – I AM SERIOUS; cutest thing ever. You need an Etsy shop and I need to buy it.
LOL
Gosh; I am just in awe, cutest thing ever!!! I’m repeating myself!! 😀 😀
Andrea
I had to chuckle in agreement when you said that you needed to give a hint to pull the tab. Whenever I’ve made interactive cards like this, when I showed them to my mom, I had to tell her to pull. Now I just add a little note or tag that says “pull me” to that point! I guess non-cardmakers just don’t have the same engineering eye that we do. LOL I was wondering, though, when you stamped the cupcake bottoms, why you moved the pull tab panel up by 1/2″ before stamping? You didn’t say in the video. Anyway, just curious. Love this card–tfs! ~ Andrea
Darlene DeVries
Hi Andrea. If I would have stamped the cupcakes at the top, I wouldn’t have space to create the “stopper” on top of them. Does that make sense?
catcards004
Darlene….THANK YOU so much for sharing this card. It’s so fun and creative! I can imagine the smile the recepient will have on his/her face when the cupcake is revealed. Brilliant!
Hugs to Courtney….hope she is finally on the mend and will be 100$ well again soon.

Very clever card… and the stamp set is adorable!

Hi Darlene !
I just spent an evening and a morning at the ER with my hubby who has kidney stones and was in a ton of pain. There were 2 little girls in there that had been running a fever for about 3 days but one of them got over it just on the 4th day. Apparently there is some kind of bug going around just in children and it only lasts for 3 – 4 days, so hopefully that’s what she’s got and it will be over soon.
Take care !!!
by the way….love this card !!!!!
Lizzie
What a great card! So clever and unique. I just don’t know if I have the patience to put one together….I would surely have to be in the mood with some motivation to do it, but I enjoyed watching this so very much. Please keep us informed on how Courtney’s doing. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. My daughter went thru that same thing when she was 2 and I know the pain and the stress…God Bless
Ske1961
Continued prayers for Courtney. It would be so hard to have such a fever for so long. Hang in there!

OH Darlene! this card is adorable! I cant wait to try it. I have started to make a list of cards I want to try next. (I keep getting side tracked, lol) I love this. thanks for the tip about the copic markers and the embossing powder. I did that the other day, I hope I didn’t ruin my tips, but I have more. I love the silver on the clouds. this is genius.
I also wanted to let you know that I am praying for you all. I hope you get to get some rest. This kind of stress can be so traumatic. I was so happy with the good news. thanks for all you do and share with us.

First of all, I hope that nasty fever breaks for Courtney soon, so she can be on her feet again enjoying her Summer vacation and you and her dad can stop worrying, sending more HEALING ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~for her. Now, about your card….. You are the Queen of interactive cards, this is simply amazing, so very carefully thought of, measured and perfectly created. I think that the recipient will enjoy and be thankful for the beauty and craftsmanship that went into making it, you covered every single detail on how to make one in your fabulous video so, thank you so much for sharing. I love that the clouds turn into cup cakes, how clever and fun, this stamp set bundle is indeed very versatile and fun.
Lots of hugs for Epic Courtney and you.

What a very sweet and clever card– seems so YOU! I’ve been away and catching up on your postings… so very glad your daughter is improving, albeit not as quickly as you all would like. Your love and caring is such good medicine. Keeping you and your family in my prayers.
Patty Beers
I was on vacation for a few days and wasn’t getting my email so just found that your daughter has been ill. I was sorry I missed saying a few prayers for her but it looks like you had many faithful people doing that. My prayers are with her now and hoping she has a speedy recovery.
Darlene DeVries
Thank you Patty! She’s feeling much better now. 🙂

Thank you so much for the tip on letting the Coptic ink dry before trying to use the 0 blender to push it back. I’ve tried so many times to use the “0”, but always ended up with a bigger mess! This card is amazing.
Brenda L.
This stamp set is a cute set for sure. And I love this card you made with it Darlene. It’s just perfect with that sentiment! Hugs, Brenda
