Hi All!
This card is perfect for the July Challenge! I was at Hobby Lobby and saw this set – I threw it into my cart. I had to… there are two different ice creams – soft serve and scooped. How can you resist?
I always think of dots when I think of ice cream – did Baskin Robbins used to have dots all over their containers?
I added a little bit of watercolor pencil to the edges of the scoops to make them more realistic. Watch the video for details. Here is a close-up of the ice cream:
I purchased my We R Memory Keepers nested circles so that I could create cards like this – where the circle is big and hangs off the card. Most circle die sets don’t have circles larger than 4″.
Enjoy the video!

This is a delicious looking card. I liked the way you used the watercolour pencils to get a more realistic effect. I think I’m going to have to get those Stampin Up watercolour pencils..Stampin Up’s paper and ink combinations can’t be beat!

So pretty! I saw this set at Hobby Lobby and decided I didn’t really need another ice cream stamp, but I might have to change my mind. 🙂

You make me want it all, Darlene! Cute, cute card.

I see a trip to Hobby Lobby in my future! LOL (I didn’t even know they carry that stamp set.) Great card Darlene! I love the colors you used. Even with the browns, it all seems very “ice creamy.” 🙂 When I first saw the still photo before I watched the video, I thought the background was patterned paper. One tip that I got from Nichol Spohr for stamping large backgrounds like that in the MISTI, if you don’t want an unstamped edge. Mount the stamp on the door of your MISTI, ink it up, then carefully place your cardstock face down on the stamp. With the MISTI door on your work surface, close the base of it so that it sandwiches your stamp/cardstock inside. Then, with the MISTI still closed, flip it over so the door is on top, and press down as usual to stamp. It sounds like a lot, but it really doesn’t take long, and you know where your stamped design is going on your cardstock. Hope this all makes sense. It’s basically just using the MISTI “backwards.” Anyway…. Thanks so much for the video, Darlene! 🙂 ~ Andrea

Good MISTI tip, Andrea. Thank you!

I just used this set for some of the july birthday group cards, but it looks way better with the shadows added with the water color pencils

Love your card Darlene! I love that stamp set too and will have to keep my eye open for it the next time I’m in HL. The embossed circles look great for the background to the cone. And of course I love your flavors and colors that you used on this card. Hugs, Brenda

That is such a “sweet” card and I love the large circled background. All in all a cute card!!

I really like the offset of the circle and the white background for an unexpected focus. Nice card.

Those scoops and the waffle cone look SO real! Yum!

Everything on this card looks so real! My mom loves ice cream and eats it a lot in the summer. She likes it all year but eats it more in the summer. Go figure, huh? LOL I have an adorable ice cream stamp that I can use for this month’s card. I just have to do it before the end of the month.

.Went shopping at Hobby Lobby today and bought this set along with the Hero Arts Ink Cubes that work well with this set. It was all on clearance. I just watched this video again for inspiration. Can’t wait to play with these new items.
