Hi All!
You say the word “donut” at our house and everybody listens. I can get my children to do anything with a little donut bribe. Study for a standardized test? Donut. Play hard in soccer and score a goal? Donut. My husband and I save donuts for the super-special occasions – not just for doing chores. I don’t talk about it that much on the blog anymore, but I strive to feed my family really healthy foods. Donuts are not on my list for any sort of consistent consumption. So, that’s what makes them the ultimate prize.
For obvious reasons, I HAD to get this donut stamp set. My 14 year old is going to love this card. I can’t wait to give it to her. She kept coming into my craft room while I was designing it and I kept yelling “don’t look!!”.
Unfortunately, as of today, this stamp set is out of stock. I emailed SimonSaysStamp and they said they should be getting more by the end of next week.
The donut glaze was colored with Copic Markers. I went through it slow in the video, and the technique I used is applicable for anything that has a reflection. Here is a close-up of the donut:
One mistake I made in the video… I called the baby stamp set “Baby Love” instead of Tiny Ray of Sunshine. Sorry about that.
Enjoy!

Darlene, I love the videos, but I am having trouble the the audio on the last two videos. Most of the speech is breaking up like a bad cell phone connection. I can understand most of what you are saying, but it very distracting. Is anyone else having this problem?
Kardz (Carole)
Darlene DeVries
Carole, do the other videos sound fine? Maybe I need to experiment with my audio settings.
saltlakerenee
no, I didn’t have any problems with the audio. Sounded perfect.

Now I’m hungry for donuts! Go figure!! 🙂 Love this – it’s cute. I wanted to ask you if you ever decorate the inside of your cards. Sometimes I have more trouble coming up with something original for the inside than I do the outside. Just curious. Thanks for sharing!!
Darlene DeVries
Actually, I’m hoping to do a video on that subject sometime soon!
Valshim
Love the card. It’s so cute and now I also want a doughnut! Just thought I would mention that I am also having difficulty hearing the audio portion. Might be my computer though. I have the volume turned to the max to hear the audio.
Darlene DeVries
Is the volume you are hearing on the LiveLoveCards videos the same as the volume you are experiencing on the DarleneDesign.com videos (this one for example?). Or, are you only having trouble hearing the LiveLoveCards video?
SandraMaria
So simple and cute. Your daughter is going to love it! Thanks for sharing. =)
Barb M.
Mmmmmmmm…..donuts!!!
Betty
Darlene, your donut is rounded, not flat at all. You are amazing with copics. I love your videos but could you speak louder? If so, it would be helpful to me. Thanks.
Sherry W.
No problem with audio here. Love the card.
conil
Yummo! Looks good enough to eat.

Awesome donut card…..yum!

I am on an iPad and having no problem with the audio. I often use headphones but not even a problem when don’t. Darlene, I am very happy that you are doing “Livelivecards”. You are so talented, and I always learn from you. Thanks
Brenda West
Looks really yummy, and you made it look so simple. Thanks for sharing.

I totally agree with you Darlene, donuts are not the healthiest of snacks but, once in a while they are fine. Not having them all the time makes them even more yummy and worth the wait.
Your little donut is just darling, you were able to create such amazing dimension with your coloring that it looks round and ready to eat!!
I’m sure your daughter will love this card.
One question…..are those Memento Lux inks like the black Memento ink you always use for stamping your images? They look like they are a thicker ink in the videos. I love the colors.
Thank you for your wonderful and inspiring videos.
Hugs.
scrappingwest
The Luxe inks are pigment inks and the black Memento is a dye ink
Darlene DeVries
Hi Maria. As scrappingwest said, the luxe inks are pigment inks. You can get more information on pigment inks HERE. Memento carries the same colors in both dye and pigment. The Black Tuxedo I use for my general stamping is dye.
swimbikerunat60
Ah yes!! I remember this video where you showed the different inks, thank you for reminding me about it and for taking the time to make this super informative videos.
Many hugs.

It’s great I love this card and everything was perfect on the video yeay <3

Darlene,
I am totally enjoying Live*Love*Cards. Thanks for always sharing your great ideas.
I read it on the iPad as well. Some time I use the ear buds if someone else in the family is watching TV, but have no trouble with your audio either way. I’m so glad I joined. ❤️
Elaine
I couldn’t watch this video at all . . . it stopped every 3 seconds! Very annoying!
Darlene DeVries
I’m sorry to hear that Elaine. Did you try switching from HD to SD? The quality is pretty high, so maybe your bandwidth won’t support it. There is a blue HD icon on the player. It will toggle between HD and SD.
scrappingwest
Love it, especially the ink you used for the stripes. I cannot watch it on my Kindle Fire though. I hear your voice just fine, but there isn’t any video. I’m not sure if I need to change a setting or what? I watch on my iphone just fine though. The audio is great for me too!! Thanks!!
Darlene DeVries
My daughter has a Kindle. Let me see if I can play it on hers and get back to you.
Darlene DeVries
I checked the video on my daughter’s Kindle and it plays fine. However, it’s a little slow in loading. I have submitted another request to Vimeo about this issue, so hopefully they will respond soon.
scrappingwest
Thanks!
Jules
Thanks for this video.. I was the one with the copic question so I really appreciated your sharing your techniques! Video and audio quality just fine here and on my i Phone too.
Enjoying your new endeavor! Julie L

LOVE the card! You’re a Copic wizard! You truly have an artist’s eye!!! Great job! Please stop being so awesome…..everything you do I feel like I have to run out and get it!!! Can’t wait for the next video! You never disappoint. BTW…I watch on my I pad. I don’t have any sound trouble.
AmirainOz
Lol….this card was meant for me 🙂 My kids always want a Krispy Kreme only because my husband says it reminds him of home (he’s from Toronto)..they’ve just opened a KK here in Perth, Australia and well…it made the news..they set a new world record..serious no joke, they had 3 hr waiting lines in the drive thru and a huge marquee with people sleeping there the night before to be first in line…tsk tsk… weak…so weak…lol..
AmirainOz
No problem withe the sound and the topic of decorating inside the card (sentiment or otherwise) is high on my want-to-see list 🙂
Laura Y
Love the donut card and it looked good enough to eat!! No problem with audio. I made a donut card recently. Is there a way to share a picture of it?
jennyjo88
Darlene, you are amazingly talented!
Pattie S
Unbelievable how that looks like a real donut! You make it look so easy! Ditto jennyjo88 – you are amazingly talented!
I was having trouble with the videos previously, but I thought it was my WiFi. No problems now with sound or streaming.
saltlakerenee
Thanks for the Copic coloring tip about leaving a thin outline to act as highlight. It looked so realistic! It seems so much easier and looks better than a lot of other highlight coloring techniques. I am going to do this all the time!
Laura
Adorable card, enjoyed watching your technique as always! I’m watching on a Mac laptop that is a few generations back, and experienced great video quality and sound, your videos are just the best – content and quality! Add me to the list who’s interested in seeing ideas for the inside of cards, love that idea! Thanks Darlene!
Mairead
The video quality is perfect for me too Darlene in HD (on my MacBook Air). The donut seemed to magically become 3 dimensional when you colored it. Speaking of donuts, I was wondering if you still have your health blog Darlene? I tried to search for it recently to no avail.
