Hi All!
Today Simon Says Stamp has a new release called Good Vibes, and this Hibiscus die is part of the collection. I did a little watercolor with Distress Oxide inks to create the background. Multiple layers of color, drying in between, creates a very interesting look. When doing this kind of watercolor, I like to limit the colors (this time I used two). With more colors, it gets muddy quickly.
Here is a close-up:

I like this card. I’d describe it as sophisticated simplicity. That water spot you left actually adds something to the background. I would’ve probably tried to get rid of it but I think you were correct to leave it in. Hope your week is going well.

Beautiful background and card!

Beautiful card. I think I’ll have to get this die. I really like it.

Gorgeous card! I love the colors you used on the background. It still amazes me that the Fossilized Amber Oxide ink comes out so bright, since the regular Distress version seems rather dull to me. But it worked perfectly with the Worn Lipstick Oxide you used here. Thanks so much for sharing this, Darlene! 😺 ~ Andrea

I’m in awe at the gorgeous color you achieved with the inks, love how you did this technique, I need to practice more because I really like how it looks, so beautifully blended and not looking muddy or splotchy.
The die is just about the most perfect image for this background, love it!!!
Thank you for the video, it’s always so much fun to watch you in action, Darlene.
