Happy and Smile Simple Card

QUICK UPDATE: Simon Says Stamp is having 90% off stamps in the sale category! Use code STAMPSNINETY at checkout. You’re welcome. 🙂

Hi All,

Today I used a couple of items from the Simon Says Stamp June card kit. The colors in this kit are really bright and cheery. After Wednesday’s card, I wanted to do a card that was pretty quick and easy, so here you go!

I don’t buy a lot of single color cardstock packs, but I must say that I’m happy with my purchase of the fog cardstock pack. It has turned out to be one of my favorite colors. It’s a great neutral for backgrounds when you want something different but subtle. The photo above shows it to be more brown. The actual color is more like the Miss You card photo. Cameras are so complicated. I’ve found that a white card is hardest to capture – the white seems to change all the colors around it when you take the photo.

In the video I talked a little bit about using Stampin’ Up! ink on Stampin’ Up! cardstock. Here is a close-up photo of the Stampin’ Up! ink on both Stampin’ Up! Whisper White cardstock (left) and Neenah Solar White cardstock (right):

I don’t like to use the Whisper White as a card base because it’s a little too thin for that, but I definitely keep it on hand for when I use Stampin’ Up! inks.

Enjoy the video and have a great weekend!

Love the bright and happy card! When you use the absorber to clean your stamps do you first spray it with your favorite stamp cleaner? If you mentioned this already, I must have missed it. Thanks!

Hi Shirley. No need for stamp cleaner. I’m just running the absorber under water, then ringing it out. It cleans the stamps perfectly for me without anything else.

Hi Darlene, Thank you for your prompt reply. WOW, who would have guessed it could be that simple? 🙂 I’ll include one on my next Amazon order. Thank you for sharing your creativity and wonderful tips.

Sweet card! I love the curved die. It looks great layered with several types of paper. That sun stamp is so cute. Thanks again for another great tutorial.

Your card is so super cute Darlene, I just love the big smile on the sun and the paper is really lovely.
I love the stitched circles, I’ve been meaning to get them, they are really beautiful.
I love how you heat embossed the sentiment, it’s a great idea to do it with clear embossing powder.
Thank you for another fabulous card and video. 🙂

Great card, Darlene! Love the bright colors. I also like how the curve on the fog/white portion echoes the “smile” greeting–it looks like a bit smile! Don’t know if that’s what you had in mind, but it was the first thing I thought of when I saw the card. 🙂

I bought an Absorber in my last Amazon order. I cut a small portion off of the large piece. I keep it in a plastic container and spritz it with water before cleaning my stamp. I think after a few more cleanings, I need to wash it. I used paper towel before and it was leaving link on my stamps and I didn’t notice till I got new ink pads. The stamp was transferring the lint to my ink pad then onto the next stamp. I do like the Absorber.

    I enjoyed the card also.
