Hi All,
I must say that I was surprised to see the polling results. I thought for sure option #2 would be the most popular, but option #3 (use 1/2 and 1/2) was the most popular by a landslide. That’s a good thing for me to know… I will try to save money and use my existing products! 🙂
By the way, I want to tell you that I am so grateful you have all joined me in this new community. I am humbly proud to report that we have 850 community members! Wow, I never imagined that. And we haven’t even hit the 2 month mark yet! I’m so excited about what the future holds. Thank you, thank you!! 🙂 And speaking of the future… I have a challenge program in the works. I will be launching it on Monday, so be sure to come back then.
Onto the card for today, which uses two sets I’ve used multiple times before – Paper Smooches Chubby Chums on THIS CARD and THIS CARD, and Simon Says Stamp Best Fishes on THIS CARD and THIS CARD.
A little shout-out to Michelle E, my crafty friend, who saw me with both of these sets (while I was making special lunch notes for Courtney) and suggested they would be great together!
I got the Gansai Tambi Watercolors for Christmas and I’m finally getting around to using them! I think that means I have too much stuff. I was really impressed with these watercolors. They are very creamy and almost like acrylic. The colors can be very vibrant and opaque if used with just a little water. And because they are a little thicker in consistency, you get more control of your blending. Meaning, they don’t run amuck when you put them together – they kind of wait for you to blend them. Distress inks are to a latte as Gansai Tambi is to an espresso. Here is a close-up of the coloring:
Enjoy the video and have a wonderful weekend!

Was getting worried that you hadn’t used surgical tape on the card but you got it in there in the end! Cute card!
Darlene DeVries
Haha Carolyn – it’s a problem!
Mary Jane
Seriously cute card!

I am so happy to be a member of this community. I have learned so much from you. I love watching your videos and I think I told you before in a comment that my 6 year old granddaughter watches them with me when I visit her. I was so surprised one day when she asked me to video her when she was doing some stamping. It was a riot. She sounded just like you while she narrated her video. It is a treasure that I will keep forever.
Darlene DeVries
OMGosh Patty, is it possible for you to share the video with me? I would love to see it!
Patty Beers
Let me see if I can do that. Not very good at this sort of thing.

Thank you, Darlene. Your birthday fishes card is so cute. I really like the brilliance of the watercolors and that that is controlled by the amount of water you apply. You give wonderful directions and details involving what you are doing. I am happy for you that This community of Livelivecards is thriving. You need to reach many people to share your talent. Thanks for all you do.

I was thinking the same thing. This card really grabs me. And I really liked that Darlene linked where the stamps were used previously.

I’ve been out of pocket for awhile. I missed the vote. I agree…I want to see 1/2 and 1/2 new supplies and what you already have!! Thank you for asking. You’re tops!! I love this fishey card!
I live in New Mexico. It’s snowing here, and I believe we are sending more snow and ice your way. Stay warm!!! Stay inside and make loads of videos!!!!!!! It’s just a suggestion….I’m just looking out for your safety!!! You’re welcome!
Darlene DeVries
lol Jennifer! Thanks for thinking of me. 🙂

Adorable and funny…like the “transparent” effect with the kitty.

Super cute card Darlene!! Love the cat looking so happy about climbing into the fish bowl! Those watercolors look amazing – so creamy and bright. Thanks for another great video!!

Really cute card and having the cat be a much lighter color behind the glass makes a big difference. Love it.

Love the sentiment dangling on the line, cool look.

VERY cute!! I always love finding new ways to use the Chubby Chums PS set b/c I think it’s adorable.. great idea to make it look like the cats body was behind the fish bowl! and that watercolor set has been calling my name for a looooonnng time!!! I guess I finally need to invest, bc the colors are so vibrant and I love the idea that it has it’s own little boxes of color 🙂 thanks for sharing!!! love this card!
Mary Jane
Hi Darlene,
I know you also use Peerless Watercolors. Do you have a preference? Is one better than the other? Also, I have been looking into the KOI but not sure about those. Have you used the KOI water colors?
Thanks,
Mary Jane
Darlene DeVries
Hi Mary Jane. The peerless are a little less creamy and opaque. However, they are both very vibrant. Since I just started working with the Gansai, I’m not sure I can say which I like better at this point. I have not used the KOI. I was choosing which set to buy and I decided on the Gansai.

Adorable and fun card! Another great video.
MezzoKat
Great tutorial! The trick of making the cat’s body look as though we’re seeing it through the fish bowl is one I’ll file away.

I just ordered my own set — finally! I found it on Amazon for only $42 for the 36 color set! It was listed by another name in the title, but the description and pictures were the same. I’m hoping I haven’t been snookered. lol

Oh Darlene, I’m so late commenting but I had my grandkids here all afternoon, they left a little while ago.
I just love this little critters and the cards you’ve made with them, this cute card is no exception, specially because you colored it with my favorite medium…..water colors.
Congratulations on your success with your blog my dear, you deserve it, for all your efforts. You are incredibly talented Darlene and so generous sharing all of this with us.
I wish for you continued success and I can’t wait to find out about the challenge, as you know, I love participating.
Thank you for all the sweet comments on my blog, I truly appreciate them.
Many hugs.
Maria.

Aw, fun card! I like how you made your cat dimensional. I wouldn’t have thought to lighten him up when looking through the bowl! See this is why I love your videos! You make me think of the little steps that add a whole new level!

Another adorable card but then that’s what I expect when I see your videos. I am loving your new website and as usual learning so much. With all this bad weather we are having the only thing to do is stay inside and make cards, yeah! Have you ever used a Cricut machine? I have a machine and lots of cartridges and other items to go with it but I don’t use it anymore. The machine is the Cricut Expressions 2, only used a few times. I have so many dies that I use now and so I would like to give it to you if you would like it. Or maybe one of your viewers would really appreciate having it. Please let me know. Thanks,
Melba Johnson
