Hi All!
I made a post to my personal blog, DarleneDesign.com, today. I’m still keeping up with my blog once or twice per month. I thought I would replicate the post here so that you can (a) have it included in the video gallery and (b) watch the video with no ad. Here it is…
I used the Simon Says Stamp April Card Kit to create three different cards. It’s kind of nice to have a finite set of products to use on a set of cards. Sometimes I can get overwhelmed with all the choices in my craft room!
I used Gansai Tambi Watercolors to create the card above. I LOVE these paints! Scroll down for more detail and the video below. But before that, I want to share some Stampin’ Up! news and also show you the other cards I created with the kit.
Sadly, this is the last week for Stampin Up!’s Sale-a-bration. I guess all good things must come to an end. Until March 31st, you get a free product for each $50 you spend. For my free products, I decided on the Lotus Blossom stamp set (which I showcased on THESE CARDS), the Irresistibly Yours DSP, and the For Being You stamp set (which I will be posting a video about tomorrow here on LiveLoveCards). TEN more free products were added last week! Check them out HERE. You can see all the free products in the SAB catalog. Overwhelmed by Stampin’ UP! in general? Click here for some suggestions.
Now for the other cards I created from the kit…
This striped one was super-easy to make. I was almost uncomfortable with how easy it was, lol!
I stamped the sentiment and the candles from the Big Birthday Wishes set with Versafine Black Onyx ink, stamped the flames with Delicata Gold ink (the coverage with this ink is incredible!), and just popped it onto the Bazzill Kraft Foil Gold paper that comes with the kit. Voila!
The next card I made was also pretty simple to create:
I stamped the balloons in the background with SSS Mint, SSS Doll Pink, and Delicata Gold inks (again from the Big Birthday Wishes set that comes with the kit). I embossed the sentiment on vellum and adhered it over the balloon strings, which I drew with a marker. Finally, I added the Pinkfresh Studio Washi tape from the kit at the top and bottom.
Here is a close-up of the card I created with the Gansai Tambai watercolors:
And finally… the video! Supply list is located below. Enjoy!

You are one of the most talented card makers in the crafting world today. We are so blessed to be able to share in your talents. I do not own many of the products you used, but will try to substitute to attempt the techniques. If you can remember, mention substitutions whenever possible. You already do this quite often…thanks.

It’s a good reminder – thank you! 🙂

One of the things I love about your tutorials is that you let the viewers see your mishaps and how to deal with them. Since none of us are ‘picture perfect’ in trying something new, it’s nice to see we’re not the only ones this can happen to! It’s refreshing!

I love the stunning colors this water colors have, this is a wonderful way to show how vibrant they are. Heat embossing the sentiment and then applying the colors is a fabulous technique, I must try it, but first I need to get me this amazing collection of colors ASAP!!
Thank you for another fantastic water color video Darlene, I just love it.
